COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional.
The Ghillie guides sportsmen in the art of fishing for salmon on the likes of the river Tweed which flows close by Broughton Ales in the Scottish Borders.
The Ghillie ale is a copper coloured ale bursting with hop flavours and aromas from the specially selected English and German hops used in the brewing process.

On cask at Cloisters. Pours an orange-amber colour with a thin white head. Interesting earl grey tea and cider apple nose. Very dry ale with a little caramel. Not bad.

Cask, Nottingham Fest ’10. Bronze with a fluffy beige foam. Aromas are toffee malts with melon and hints of kiwi. Yeasty with light spices. Flavours are dry and woody with sweet caramel malts as the base. Citrus with a peppery finish. OK.

Cask at Guildford Arms, Edinburgh 11 Nov 08. Golden colored. A small creamy white head. Sweet fruity aroma. Flavor even more fruity. OK but not great.

Half pint, handpulled at Guildford Arms in Edinburgh. Lacing-head. Naked, clear amber body. Fruitlike aroma and taste – a bit like fruit cake. Underpinning bitterness, but overall quite anonymous [11.11.2008].

Gr0ve (1875) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 12, 2006
1/2 pint cask, Guildford, Edinburgh. Light amber colour with a creamy off-white head. Crisp malty aroma. Light prickly hop bitterness when it enters the mouth. Gentle crisp amlty rich roasted flavour with a good solid hoppy and bitter background. Sourish crisp mouthfeel, especially in the finish. Very drinkable. Leaves a drying sensation in the mouth.

Cask conditioned at The Brittania Inn, Elterwater. Copper coloured beer with thinnish head. Richly malted beer, quite grainy and yeasty with a tangy finish.
