A light coloured, refreshing ale from the land of the Border Reivers. A session ale full of character, brewed with a subtle use of Crystal Malt and generous use of the aroma hop, 1st Gold.

(RBESG 2007, Cask at the Halfway House, Edinburgh) Golden color, white head. Hops and some fruity notes in aroma. Hoppy grassy flavor and with a bitter finish.

Cask handpull at Halfway House, Edinburgh. Gold, lasting white head. Fine. It’s a standard gollden bitter, soft in the mouth.

Cask at Merton Summer Beer Festival 06-07-07. Poured amber in colour with white head. Not as hoppy as I hoped, some caramel some hops with nice maltiness, this was a nice beer but lacking in authority a little.

Cask conditioned at Merton Beer festival ’07. Pale amber with light head. I won’t enter the IPA argument here, but it ain’t one. Light biscuity body, some fragrant fruitiness and with a light hop finish. decent without being spectacular.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Ffestiniog Railway Station Pub. Citric and a little apricot and marmalade. Lovely hops with a very slight malty undertone. Decent beer.

This was 4.2% and just called the reiver, no ipa. Excellent aroma, peachy, citrus and pale malts. Taste is similar but lacking in the peachyness due to the bittering hops taking it away.

Pale golden colour, a light hoppy grapefuity flavour leading to a drying bitter finnish .

Not bad, but it was a little flavorless, I do not know what these guys tried to do.
