Hazy reddish brown ale with a thin white head. Pleasant coriandrr and honey, very Unibroeue styled. In mouth, rich malt with coriander notes, cloves and ginger. Goes well with the Fol Épi cheese. Medium to ric bodied. Bottle 6 months old from Joanette. Excellent. Merci Marc B.!

Some kind of sour wheat beer, looks like a wheat beer. Aroma of bleach and spice such as corriander. Didn’t work for me.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 3, 2008 The Lure:
A blond-orange gown greets the eyes, topped with ample, sticky foam. Leaping coriander seeds and slightly citrusy fruitiness coexist in harmony, as wheat and spices frolick all around.
A perfect carbonation, fluffy but comfortable, sends over a very flavorful interplay of coriander, fruity yeast, leafy hops and milky sweetness. The finale is equally succulent, introducing mild herbal hop bitterness into the already very active flavor display. This is a textbook Witbier, expertly rendered.
On tap at Brouhaha.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Metro Joanette. Dark hazy golden pastel yellow body with a big fluffy white head. (3+) The head is attractive but made me worry it might be infected, thankfully the aroma and taste did not give that impression. Tart aroma of mild lemon and citrus, touch of yeasty funk. Flavour has an initial tart bite up front with an underlying sweetness and lemony notes throughout. Average palate. Not great but surprisingly quenching on a warm day.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Only slightly hazy pale yellow, thin 1cm white head. Rather ordinary looks. Ginger is the dominant spice in the aroma that bets a lot on honey and the yeast’s spiciness. This feeling is enhanced by a heavier touch of noble hops than you’d expect in the style, coming out a bit grassy in the nose, bringing out notes reminiscent of oregano and making it very dry. You’d believe the legendary wit’s drinkability would be even greater with the generous hopping, but the truth is that the initial sweet pinneaple attack is quickly run over by a considerable astringency, the type that I usually associate with rye. The high level of carbonation and rounded mouthfeel is fine by me though. There’s certainly a good base in there, but difficult as I am, I’d personally prefer a sweeter or rather maltier palate to allow the yeast subtle aromatics to show more.

On tap @ Mondial de la Biere 2009
Appearance: plain light golden look , glowing hue , mid white top. Fragmental lace. 3-
Nose: Light wheat character , soft sweet sides , bit citric around . Good nose.
Flavor/Palate : Mid light bodied. Clean , but bit thin , diluted what character with hint of orange. Lighter and bit over carbonated yet still quiet drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught. At Mondial 2009 - day 1. Very cloudy pale yellow with a solid white creamy head. Strong aroma of lemon, coriander, pear and heather (the plant, you sicko). Tastes quite grassy, with lemon and just a hint of banana, very light alcohol presence. Light bodied, very lively and fruity on the palate, with a soft grassy finish - very refreshing, a tad hoppy for the style, but well-balanced and done.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a pretty very cloudy uneven orange-light-brown body topped by a generous white head, kind of orange juice and milk poured into a brown ale, ugly. Fruity, spicy and citrus nose. Taste is pretty complex. Starts fruity (tangerine, pineapple) followed by the peppery spices along with some astringency. There’s even some hop bitterness in the finish which is unexpected for the style but appropriate in this case. Medium creamy body. Alcohol is very present and warming for such a low abv. Definitely not a standard witbier… Definitely not a standard beer for any style. Not brewed anymore and I miss it more than a fat kid on diet misses cake. 341ml bottle.
