[4137-20111119] 750mL bottle. Odd fragrant fruity malt aroma has an unpleasant pungentness. Black brown body with a medium-lasting foamy dark tan head. Cherry-infused roast malt flavour has quite a boozy sweet fruit roast base throughout. Full body. Odd transition from sour beers but settles in nicely. (7/3/7/4/14) 3.5+

Bottle at Brouhaha with Andy, PJ and Niles after Igloofest. Great black pour with a red aura. Tan head. Aroma is sweet dark chocolate and dried red fruit. Tastes thin and yet rich. Slightly dry, awesome dark cherry flavor mixed with notes of chocolate and a little roast. Absolutely loved this beer.

Bottle at the brewpub after igloo fest 2012. Supple stout with cherries... Not overly sweet. More dark fruits than I would have expected, fantastic.

2011-11-19. Red tinged black bodiy with a small beige head that fades. 3+ Mild aroma at first, sweet fruity notes, dark fruit, muted dark malt. 7+ Flavour of muted dark malt, mild sour cherry, generic fruity character, lingering cherry pits. 7+ Smooth average to medium bodied palate, very lightly carbonated. Nice, bit muddled but quite pleasant. Bit of cocoa, black fruit cake. Bottle shared at Rudolf’s Sourfest 2011

A very good dessert beer!
Although not a big fan of fruit beer makes it a very pleasant beer with the acidity of cherry in the stout.
Try it with a cheescake you won’t be disapointed...

750 ml bottle shared with Seb for a big occasion. A: some cherries, chocolate. App : black with small lasting beige head. T/P : it’s thin and offer a nice sourness from the "griotte" O: great. This beer would have score more if marked to be a fruit beer or belgian speciality. It’s doesn’t offer much complexity on the malt side. But surprisingly does well on another side it does taste like "foret noire"

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 gilpou (18) - St-Hubert, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 27, 2011
Tasted in a 750ml bottle. At nose we recognize the cherry very well. In the mouth it is very acid, the acidity is too present it hide the roasted malt and the hops. This is far from the Imperial Stout that I’m used to. Almost no body... not so sweet. I don’t know if I will finish it. And also the bottle gushed when I opened it.
