Parfum fort de "whisky" . Doux, pas acre, bon goût. Pas de mousse, peu de dentelle. Un petit goût de réglisse et de caramel.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rastacouere (6042) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 8, 2011
12oz bottle, a few months old. A surprisingly lasting white foam crowns the clear straight amber. Heady aroma where malts and hops both occupy a lot of room, climbing over each other with respect. Coniferous citrus take a fair amount of room, but quickly, strawberry fruitiness, both from the yeast and malt I presume, kick in and add a depth that is enhanced by vigorous malts, deeply honeyed, golden raisins, biscuity and almost cakey in their warming, desserty impression. The alcohol is not subtle, but is restrained enough for a beer that oscillates between 12% and 13%. Its most notable feature must be the relative smoothness that can certainly be associated to the brewer’s patience with this one, leaving it to acquire a sagacious wisdom after a few months, rounding both its alcoholic and hoppy edges off. The hops settled nicely in this one, now showing no agressivity in their citrusy, piney expansion. A smooth, surprisingly relatively thin and clean barley wine that does not overwhelm by its richness, but feels balanced and relaxing.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. The aroma is very nice sweet caramel, Amarillo hops stand out, sugary. The flavor is between a English and American style BW; sweet fruity hops, sugary caramel, hot. Dry. Sticky. This is damn good.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 nickd717 (3394) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAR 11, 2011
341ml bottle. Pours a deep clear reddish-amber color with an off-white head that leaves some film on the beer and a thick ring. Nice spicy aroma that hints of cinnamon red hot candies and ripe fruits, as well as sweet toffee malts and some hop resins. The flavor is a little on the sweet side, but pretty good besides that. Big English toffee on the malt, sugar plum, orange, and molasses, with a mildly hoppy finish. The level of booziness is about what you’d expect, and the carbonation is on the softer side. This is a good barleywine for sure, but not awesome by any means. Good to get some nice Canadian ticks in though.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 oakbluff (395) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 20, 2011
12 ounce bottle via glouglouburp- pours a hazy burnt caramel colour. Not much for head or lacing. Nose- strong pine and caramel/tofee. Very rich
Taste- very sweet toffee, oranges, nutty. pretty much a malt bomb where the nice pine in the nose doesn’t carry through in the taste. Lingering sweet finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 after4ever (5287) - Brier, Washington, USA - FEB 5, 2011
330. Thanks, Dany! Pours an opaque and very dark brown with a loose and short-lived slim tan rim on top. Big sweet caramel and toffee nose. Thick, sticky body. Caramel, nuts, toast, toffee, molasses and brown bread on the mid-palate. Long sweet sticky finish. Nice malty sweet barleywine.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheJester (1460) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 12, 2011
341 mL bottle in trade from SlovakSniper. (Geez I’m going through these quickly.) Transparent orange-brown with almost no head. Nice aroma of peaches, brown sugar, alcohol and a bit of citrus from the hops. The flavour is a little sweeter and definitely fruitier than most barleywines. These flavours come up front, and are followed by alcohol, malt, and surprisingly little alcohol. Pretty juicy for a barleywine. But not bad.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 czar (2232) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 12, 2011
on tap at broue ha ha. deep copper, almost mahogany with a little head. nice dark caramel malts, roastiness, and a lot of residual sugars in there - too much for me. good aromatic hops that support though, slight alcohol feel, low carbonation (hope that the bottle is that way too...). an ok-barleywine.
