Draught at Brouhaha, Montréal, QC. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a small diminishing white head. Nice aroma of fruit, yeast, spices and herbs. Flavour of Belgian yeast, caramel malt, some fruit, spices and herbs. Average bodied. Pretty good.

Tap at Brouhaha 1st anniversary party. Pours a deeper than expected- amber with a ok head fades a bit- carbonation is a bit lower than expected as well. Aroma is spicy, light yeast phenolic and a slight fruity ester- and grass. Flavor is malty toffee, caramel, spice, herbs, slight vegetal grassy adn spicy phenolic belgian yeast. body is weak and the low carb hurts it. Meh.

Taster at Le Festival Bieres et Saveurs Chambly 08.The color is amber, thin beige head. The aroma and taste are of malt spicies and herbs. At the end I could also taste some fruits, not bad.

Tap at the brewpub. Lightly doughy, coriander, indistinct aroma. Rather thin flavor: boiled veggies, some pretzels. Weak body, almost like its infected. This sucks.

Bottle (341ml). Via trade with Viper666. Fairly murky deep brownish-red with an average off-white frothy/creamy head. Interesting aroma of spice, light black pepper, sweet malt and a dash of lemon juice - surprising bitterness in the end. Taste - really interesting - heavy brown sugar malt up front with plenty of sweet spice, then bitter peppery yeast, alcohol and sourness from ... ? I think the body is solid, but it’s so lively, bitter and astringent by the time the finish rolls around I can’t tell - I don’t think it’s a home run, but to me it was at least a stand-up double regretfully eying third ... there’s a lot going on here, but it needs to be a little less brash and a little more blended - the sourness detracts in the end.

Bottle courtesy of Turg- Thanks Francois! Pours a hazy yellow cloud with a long lived foamy white head. Typical clove and spices in the nose, with orange peel, and some slight yeasty funk. Tart and sweet, fruity and yeasty. Refreshing if nothing else, with a unique sour aftertaste that left me wanting to try another. Good!

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2009 Complete re-write for the tap version at the brewpub. Totally different beer than the bottle version that was available a few beers before the brewpub opened. DIREGARD any ratings 2007 and before, this is now a totally different beer.
In short: A crisp, fruity and toasted Saison
How: Tap at brewpub, many times, various batches.
The look: Almost clear dark golden body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose is initially timid but by shaking it I got a good barnyard aroma. Very wheaty. Pleasant crisp toasted wheat with a touch of caramel. Good Saison yeast presence, this ain’t a Dupont but it definitely has a somewhat authentic feel to it. Dry citrus skin and other dry fruits. Very good beer. All those nice Saison elements fighting over my taste buds like ethiopians over an Oh Henry.
