750 mL bottle. Dark brown - opaque - with a medium beige head. Smellys yeasty and kinda nutty. Mild. The flavour is a little fuller and more complex. The yeast is still there, cola, a touch of chocolate as it warms. Not a hint of the booze, but there probably should be. Good body. Different, but nothing wrong with it.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some very good lacing. Aroma of light dry fruit with fruity ester and some nice caramelized malt notes is very enticing. Taste is a wonderful mix between some fruity ester with light dry fruits notes with a solid Belgian malt backbone with some caramelized notes. Body is full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with nice level of complexity while retaining a very good drinkability factor.

Dark brown with low but persistant foam. Sweet plums but the aroma is restrained. Alcohol notes. Soapy notes and it has more nut flavor than usual ABT. Palate is absolutly delicious. Sweet dessert but the little bitteness balances it. Pretty good to me.

Sample at Chambly fest. 2010 vintage most likely.
Appearance : Dark brown with foamy and creamy head
Aroma : Great brown sugar with caramel. Nice spices and nice belgian yeast. Some alcohol.
Taste : Great caramel with brown sugar. Light hops. Finish great brown sugar with nice hops and yeast. Great hops too. Nice bitterness with the brown sugar.
Overall : Humm very nice one. Great rich candy sugar with light caramel notes. Nice yeast presence too. Great balance with the hops. Very complex and tasty. I really don’t get some of the low ratings... maybe some inconsistency with the bottles... Seemed like a fine example of the style.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2012 En fût à l’Oktorberfest des Québécois. 10%. Bouteille 750 ml, Noel 2012. Couleur rougeâtre-brune, mousse beige. Arôme de levures et malt, un peu de prunes, un peu de chocolat. En bouche, douce, malt, prunes mûres, un peu sucrée, équilibre parfait. Finale avec une légère amertume acide. Très bonne.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with thin off-white head. Aroma of brown sugar, toast, cheap fermentation, light fruitiness. Taste is mostly roasted grain, some apple juice (wrong!), very yeasty on the finish. Heavy bodied beer with medium carbonation, very heavy to drink. Not really my thing.
