1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 j9weber (2) - NETHERLANDS - APR 8, 2011 does not count
Off-putting at first was the aroma of a damp cardboard box that once held bananas. Hard to get past. The aroma managed to sneak past the thick moussey head which was pretty. Fortunately, the beer didn’t taste quite like what it smelled like. This is a thin-ish brown ale with the requisite malty, slightly sweet character you’d expect from a brown ale and Belgian-style yeast. The Hallertau hops were lurking in the background, not willing to come out and play. Not much to say other than I left about 1/3 of it in the glass, unwilling to finish it off.
