3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JorisPPattyn (6727) - Antwerpen, - JUL 28, 2003
(Completely different label on my bottle) Orange, hazy. Firm yellowish head. Nose: stange - a bit acidic - brettanomyces/'horseblanket'-like; at the same time very fresh smelling, fresh hops and stale hops, citrussy. Something metallic, as well. Taste: virtually nothing from the above. First a taste as if biting in a licorice stick, without yet tasting the sweetnes. Then it 'flowers' into a hopbite, as from hopoil with a metallic tang. This tang intensifies until it gets really harsh. There is some malty sweetness underneath as well as some fruity, probably citrussy flavour, but all is overwhelmed in seconds by the metallic sensation, as going with the tongue over the opened lid of a tin can. Only the licorice aroma keeps struggling with it. It's not bad, but not pleasant either. The mouthfel is completely dominated by it. Well, I'd like to give it more credit. But this darned tin-can taste - from a 75cl bottle - is just too much.

{thoughts} Minted iced tea by nose, caramel apples by taste; this beer seems an odd combination of sensations. A sharp spiciness pays some homage to Tripel, and a lively mouthfeel speeds everything along.
{elements} Hazy peach hue; small, white ring of foam. Strange aroma of equal parts iced tea and mint, and lesser amounts of white pepper and musky apricots. Moderately sweet, moderate-heavy acidity, moderate bitterness; tastes of apples in caramel sauce, raisins, black pepper and alcohol. Heavy carbonation, creamy texture, medium body. 75 cl bottle @ GP Tuulensuu, best before 03/2012.
