COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We use only imported Belgian malt, German noble hops and our brouwerij west yeast. We chose not to duplicate the standard "peppery/spicy" saison profile and instead go after bubble gum esters and noble hop aroma. Extra is Bright and malty, with a firm bitterness and a dry finish. Hazy gold in color. 6.5% ALC/VOL and of course no spices added.

Herbal notes up front as well as grass, hay, dusty notes, soft belgian yeast esters, lightly sweet bubble gummy notes but not over the top in terms of it being an american take on a saison. Pours golden yellow, thin white head. Flavors of herbal notes, hay, wheat, a little lemon and pepper, soft spicy yeast notes, a light bubblegum character, lingering herbal notes and a dry finish. Nice carbonation.

Bright almost fruity aroma. Golden yeasty color. Malty but tingly start with a real bitter skunky finish. It’s got a good balance but the after taste is a bit much.

Pint on tap. Hazy golden with a smattering of cream. Aroma of mild funk, apple and grape must. Flavors of spicy pear, musty grape and aged apple. Light-medium body is to the dry side with average carbonation.

A mostly clear dark golden beer that sported a nice white head. Sweetness abounds in the aroma. This is pretty much to style. Some pepper spices are nice. Malts are fairly big and work with the fruit and yeast notes. Some grass and a bit of bubble gum. Tasty.

Fun label. Pours a cloudy and dull orangish shade of yellow. Not quite opaque, and it’s hard to tell how much of the cloudiness is from my pour. Nice, thick, slightly off-white head. Great retention. Some lacing. Lots of fine bubbles. Aroma is sweet with simple malt sugariness. A bit bready. There’s also a tart, lemony twist, possibly just from the hops. Little bit of herbal hoppiness. It smells kinda like a sweet pilsner-ish beer. Some light stone fruit and bubblegum, maybe even some banana. The taste is somewhat sweeter than I’d prefer and never quite dries out as much as I’d like. Herbal, grassy hoppiness, particularly in the finish. A bit less lemon and musty yeast than in the aroma. The malt is just a bit simple and lacks that fresh, bright flavor of better saisons. Mouthfeel is fairly effervescent. Prickly bubbles. Despite that, it’s a bit too full for the simple maltiness. Pretty disappointing. It’s not really a bad beer, but it’s not my taste in the style, even though I love a range of flavors in saisons. It just hits some key points of the style wrong for me. If I were to review the beer strictly by style, I might go even lower with my scores.

Pours a hazy deep golden ochre color with a finger of eggshell foam. On the nose it’s got a good dose of banana, fruit esters and a touch of spicy yeast. The palate is cleaner than I expected based on the nose. The mouthfeel is bit fuller than I’d like and a touch under carbonated. Nice rustic flavors with a nice dose of peppery spice and grassy noble hop bitterness that really cleans up the finish.
