We use only imported Belgian malt, German noble hops and our brouwerij west yeast. We chose not to duplicate the standard "peppery/spicy" saison profile and instead go after bubble gum esters and noble hop aroma. Extra is Bright and malty, with a firm bitterness and a dry finish. Hazy gold in color. 6.5% ALC/VOL and of course no spices added.

500ml bottle from Binny’s Plainfield, #483/10000. Pours a hazed, golden colored body with a finger-width, fizzy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is bubble gum and lightly sweetened, bready pils malts with some florals, a light peppery note, a few esters, and some grass. Flavor is similar. Soft, bready pils malts with a light grass and yeasty pepper alongside some bubble gum, dusty florals, and grains. Finishes dry, grainy, and grassy with some light fruit notes, pepper, and a touch of pils malt. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a soft, somewhat lively, moderate carbonation. Overall, this was pretty solid saison. Dry and easy drinking with a light pils malt backing, some yeasty pepper, florals, grass, and bubble gum. Not bad.

Pours golden yellow with a thin wispy white head. Aroma is earthy, pear, bubblegum and hint of floral. Taste is sweet with a touch of tartness, none of the usual spicy saison characteristics. Medium bodied with a dry clean finish.

Aroma - bready, yeasty. Citrus hop notes secondary. Straw color with some haze. Bitter taste. Not sweet. No floral notes when tasting. I dig it.

500ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Nice saison this one. You don’t see many of their beers here in Australia and I grab them when I can. Rating from 2013.

Bottle courtesy of Brendan at his CFAII celebration. Pours a hazy amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is very yeast-forward with additional notes of spice, malt and cereal. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side and pretty refreshing; flavors of spicy yeast, sweet malt, cleaner, bubblegum and light earthy hop.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold body under a one finger frothy white head that left some delicate lacing. The nose is rather light and delicate with some pale malt, light hoppiness, and a nice delicate yeastiness. The flavor isn’t as great as I was expecting, it’s a bit bland and boring with just a light bit of spiciness from the yeast. It’s fairly light bodied and dry though, making it rather easy drinking and refreshing. Nice soft gentle natural carbonation. Not the most complex tasting, but the light spiciness is all from the yeast instead of using spices. Pretty decent stuff.
