Brewed with coriander and liquorice, "for the ladies", the brewer says.

GUSHER alert!
Cloudy orange beer, huge towering off-white head, stable, pretty adhesive. Aroma: wet grains, hay, grassy hops, fresh cut grass, citrus, some honey, cardboard. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: orange peel, sweet, honey, some citrus, bitter touch, honey again. Aftertaste: bitter, some citrus, orange peel, sweet and sugary, bit watery ending. Aged for too long I guess, if only 24 months.

At Butchers Tears, Oudjaarsticken pub crawl. Hazy gold pour with white head. Aroma is spicy, tons of belgian yeast, light herbal notes, pretty classic triple, boozy flavor, grainy, belgian yeast. Meh.

Golden body. Typical triple aromas, sweet clean malts, alcohol. Simple, boring. Typical tripel. (Oudejaarsticken. Bottle at the brewpub.)

Tap @ Butchers Tears during ’oudjaarsticken 2014’, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, short head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some grainy malt. Bit sweet in taste. Just your average belgian tripel.

Bottle @ Butchers Tears. Pours a clear amber beer with a big off white head on top. Aroma is very herbal, yeasty, fruity. Flavor is sweet, again herbal, cinnamon, fruits and quite strange. Not really sure what to think of this one.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours like a tripel, no real head. Golden colour. Taste is sweet to start with spicyness and liquorice coming through. It has a sour aftertaste of mustiness which is not really too good. Thin palate. Ends very bitter. Trying to take a tripel away from lucsious sweet graininess. Nice attempt, but I’m not convinced. Goes into the "interesting" list.

Alengrin (2813) - BELGIUM - AUG 23, 2014
Spiced tripel with cream white, medium thick, sticky head and deep peach blonde colour, cloudy. Aroma of caramel, mango, vermouth, bread, orange peel, tomato, coriander and fried eggs; the liquorice stays in the background. Soft fruity taste of apricot and orange, soft bitterness dominating but in a gentle, herbal way, coriander and liquorice noticeable but subtle, more spiciness in the finish, dryish ending. Good tripel.

Aroma: yeast, sour. Appearance: hazy pale gold, medium frothy white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: bitters dominating, intensifying, dry bitters in the average-long finish. Overall: very nice Belgian Strong Ale, nice palate. Bottle at Le Trappist, Bruges.

Nice orangy amber colour. Aromatic, hints of herbs, hops. Lightly sweet, no noticeable bitterness, mouthfilling, fullbodied, creamy texture. Persistent, superb beer!
