Cask at the Bricklayer’s Arms BF, 2011. Dark brown with a creamy, beige head. Aroma has some very hard, dark malts, lightly roasted. Nice flavor, quite sweet and chocolatey, has some mild coffee, creamy, hints of toffee. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes very sweet with lots of creamy mocha. hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2009
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. The name is definitely Captain ’Oates’: there’s a picture of the Antarctic explorer on the pumpclip. Dark red brown with a small off white head. Chocolate aroma with a whiff of sulphur. Strong taste of cocoa or chocolate. A little plummy sourness as well, or maybe it’s sour milk. Very slight dryness.
