Cask Handpump at the Crescent, Salford 06/11/2004 Dark to mid brown and slightly rich on the palate. Some dryness in the crisp malt finish.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] A brown beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet roasted with with light notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet roasted and again with notes of chocolate, and a dry end. Another of my recommendations from GBBF. I think more of this as a Brown ale, than a Bitter.

Cask (gravity dispense), GBBF, August 2005. Quite dark brown for a bitter. Malty with loads of caramel and just a touch very light bitterness. Some butterscotch throughout. Never heard of a hop called Joan before. Not in great condition.

Cask conditioned GBBF 2005: Reddish, no head. Very malty flavour with a lot of liquorice. Pleasant beer.

Cask. Brown color. The taste is a sweet light dry and malty body with a light roasted palate and light hoppy notes.

Buttery chocolate, toasted malts and berries in the aroma. Clear amber brown with low tan head that recedes to cover. Nutty and toasted malts with some roastiness in the finish. Light body with fair carbonation. Somewhat metallic in the finish. Funny, I thought this was a mild. Cask at GBBF 2005.

Cask (GBBF): Ruby amber with a beige head. Toasted malt nose. Similar flavour, with some tinny notes. Medium bodied, but a little bland.

On tap at GBBF 05. I had this down as a Brown Ale, but no matter. Red/brown colour, with loose head coverage. Very metally on the finish - like licking a penny. Before that it’s plain, with hints of nuts. Smells bad, like it’s off. Not brilliant.

Cask conditioned - handpump - GBBF 2005. A chestnut colourd beer with a sulphuric aroma. The taste was nutty and a tad smokey. Tasted also a bit sulphuric and stale.

Cask at GBBF 2005. Mid brown bitter. Malty and a bit of vinegar so not sure if this was in tip top condition. Not too good.
