Cask (gravity) - Norwich Beer Festival 2010. Poured a ruddy dark brown with a medium, bubbly tan head. Sulphur on the nose, hints of dark fruit but lots of coffee & chocolate - sweet & wholesome once the sulphur passes. On the palate is where the vanilla shines. Sweet & creamy, not overly sugary, balanced nicely by a roasty, coffee bitterness in the end. Medium body, soft palate, lingering bitterness with lots of vanilla in the aftertaste. A pleasant, relatively light porter with plenty of flavour and an interesting dimension added by the vanilla.

Cask. An opaque dark brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, vanilla, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt as well as lighter notes of soy sauce, roasted malt, and vanilla, leading to a dry, roasted, and grainy finish.

Cask. I took this down as: "Brown Cow Mrs. Simpson Vanila Porter" at 4.9% ABV. Pours dark brown with a vague orange hue and a beige head leaving some lacework. Sweet, hard roasted malts in the nose. Medium body, sweetish hard roasted malts and vanilla with some malt bitterness. 210110

Cask conditioned Gravity dispense Northants BF 2010. A black beer with a tiny off-white head. The aroma has some vanilla but it takes some swirling to find it. There’s plenty in the mouth though, together with good chocolate. Smooth, tasty and moreish.

Cask, Judges Lodgings, York. Bit of a complex one this! A strong initial sulphury aroma leads to an intense chocolate and vanilla tasting beer, with the sulphur dying down, but remaining present throughout. Plenty of roast malt flavour and, towards the end, a touch of coffee and rum creeps in to provide a sweet, warming finish.

Cask (handpump) @ The New Oxford, 11 Bexley Sq, Salford, Manchester, England M3 6DB.
Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, cacao, vanilla. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light light bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20100121]
