Pitch black with a good off-white head and lots of lace. Aroma: Smoked wood chip, raisin, chocolate, espresso, leather, some hops. Creamy and medium bodied. I found myself licking my lips all the way through this. Great stuff.

humlelala (984) - DENMARK - JUN 19, 2014
(33 cl bottle from Bradley’s off-license, Cork; BBD: August 2015) Pours dark brown with lasting tan head and some lace. Aroma is subtle toasted malt. Oily texture, soft carbonation, medium body and an ascorbic finish. Flavour is toasted malt, dark and a little ascorbicity. Not terribly exciting for the style.

ACD (634) - Dublin, IRELAND - APR 28, 2014
Bottle. Nearly black with good tan head. Big coffee and chocolate nose, light vanilla pod, touch of something ashy in there too. Luxurious chocolate and roasted malt in the taste - lots of dark burnt coffee grounds too. Light fruitiness and a hint of sweet vanilla. Medium/full bodied, pretty heavy on the carb. Lingering fruits and chocolate, with light smoke finishing. Really solid again from BPBP.

Aroma - slight dark caramel, slight port, very faint nose
Taste of smooth silky dark malts, soft roast, some bitter dark chocolate, alcohol well hidden
Palate - soft carb, medium body, smooth. Finish of smooth dark malts, slight roast, slight earthy finish
Overall - Good porter

garthicus (2670) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAR 29, 2014
Bottle. Appearance: Pitch black, thick off white head which laces the glass. Aroma: Sharp hoppy aroma with a nice smoky and wood like smell too. Flavour: Chocolate at first, hints of coffee and leather, a great hoppiness to it too, nice and sharp, creamy mouth feel with a delicious smoke and wood note throughout, bitter finish. Quite lovely.

Cola like pour into the tulip glass, small tan head that dissipates quickly leaving a little lacing on the glass. Faint aroma, not near as much as I would have expected. Traditional porter notes of roasted barley, nutty taurine, some floral hops, hints of vanilla. Taste is equally mild, roasted nuts, toffee, some seaweed brininess, nice bitterness in the finish. Good carbonation level, present but not overwhelming. Overall a solid porter that isn’t going to knock your socks off but is a fine addition to a meal.

Dark brown with fluffy tan head collapsing to lacing, rich dark chocolate, earthy and touch of smoke. Spikey carbonation and full bodied. Dry cocoa, slightly flinty, touch of dry toasty barley, long mineral finish.

330 ml bottle from Drinkstore. Brown black pour, big pillowy tan head. Lasts ages, seems to be becoming a signature of the brewery. Roast malt, oats, some hints of chocolate in the aroma. Flavour is way more full on than the nose, milk chocolate up front, lifted by some bright carbonation, then a wave of oily bitterness, followed by roasted notes which blend with the hops nicely. Love a hoppy porter and this is a fine example.
