Poured a lightly hazy, red amber color with a small, off white head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of light floral hops, citrus fruits, a bit of metal, light DMS, with caramel, and some alcohol as well. Taste of maple syrup, some caramel, cardboard, toasted dough, with dry grapefruit, and some alcohol in the finish as well.

Bottle from Sunsinger in Champaign IL. I think this bomber was less than $5! Pours a deep semi murkey amber with a beige head. Aroma of toffee, alcohol, and fruit esters. Full bodied with average carbonation. Flavor of caramel, vanilla, and toffee countered by some faded hops. Somewhat woody on the finish. No oxidation on this.

Murky chestnut body topped with a small, ecru head. Fruity aroma with notes of alcohol and malt, molasses. Medium body with a slight syrupy feel. Flavor was dark dried fruit and alcohol. Not a bad barleywine.

Hazy brown/amber with a very small head. Delicate aroma with a good bit of honey, some tobacco and cherry notes. Flavor is quite sweet, with much of the character of a nicely aged English barleywine--tobacco, walnuts, honey, cherry. Good dry bitterness finishes it off. Surprisingly impressive.

Courtesy of Kevster. Thanks, Kevin. The aroma is fruity with a strong malt aroma and mild vegetal notes. The body is a muddy brown with nearly no head. Sticky sweet fore is followed by sweetwer candy sugar notes and oxidated caramel. The mouthfeel is pretty thin for a BW, but you get a pretty nice dark fruit flavored blast int he finish which saves this beer from being awful and actually gets me wanting another sip.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 boboski (1095) - Alabama, USA - MAY 28, 2007
Dark amber pour with lilac hues. A thin white head recedes quickly and fully. Aromas of sour fruits, caramel, mild molasses, light orangey hops and acetyldehyde. Alcohol is far too intense, scalding hot against the back of my nose and throat. The flavor is far refined. More fruit and alcohol, little malt and less hops than in the nose. Very cloying, moderately acidic and mostly sad. The finish is medium sweet and modest in length, very fruity as well - this is not fresh, vibrant fruit either. Mouthfeel is watery for the style, light-medium overall. It’s smooth, mostly due to a lack of body and bitterness. Not very good at all.
