According to the Association of Brewers, the world’s finest Oatmeal Stout is brewed in Troy, NY by Brown’s Brewing Company. Brown’s Oatmeal Stout took home a Gold Medal at the World Beer Cup held in San Diego, April 2004 – perhaps the most prestigious beer judging event in the world.

On tap at Stone Hearth. Dark dark brown with small tan head and lace. Chocolate milk aroma with a little spicy woody hop and a touch of oat tang. Medium toasty milk chocolate and mild roasted coffee with subdued raisin fruit sweetness and mild oat tang with medium spicy woody bitterness. Pretty sweet all the way through. Creamy. med-full body. Pretty good.

12oz bottle from my sister for my birthday. Pours black in color with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, milk chocolate, and vanilla. Taste roasted malt, cardboard, milk chocolate, charred sourdough bread, and vanilla. Mouthfeel is a little thin.

Bottle at Recovery Sports Bar, Verona, NY. Pours dark - nearly black, pretty much opaque. Sparse lacing. Probably would foam up a little better if it weren't served too cold, just like they do at damn near every brew joint in the USA. Christ, people! Stouts should be closer to 50 degrees! Nose is faintly malty, hinting at what might come out of it if they didn't freeze the beer as if it were Budweiser and you need frozen taste buds to be able to stomach it. Taste is reasonably balanced, but there's a peculiar metallic note in the aftertaste. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Decent brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rich aroma with definite roasty chocolate tones. Beautiful crisp black pour with not much head (I did pour it a bit too cold). The Willamette sneaks through ever so slightly. A solid brew.
