Tap @ the brewpub. Poured a hazy amber color with an off-white head. There was a moderate amount of cinnamon and ginger in the aroma. The flavor had the same spices. There was a little warmth from the spices. Actually the spice covers most of the aroma and the flavor. A touch of malt comes through at the end.

A - Cloudy amber-orange color. Very little head, but there is a little bit of lacing left behind. S - The smell is more of pumpkin pie spices than it is pumpkin smell. Mostly the spices related to pumpkin pie like nutmeg and allspice. T - The taste is mild and contains mostly pumpkin pie spices. There is also some malt flavor that comes through. Unlike the smell, the pumpkin is part of the taste, but could be a bit stronger compared to the spices. The aftertaste is fairly pumpkin-filled though. M - Very smooth and very crisp. Just a bit of carbonation. Pretty medium-bodied. D - Very drinkable beer. The pumpkin and malt flavors are a bit subdued and the overall taste is of the spices. Though, the beer could taste a bit more balanced.

I said I’d give pumpkin ales another chance this year after not being enamored with them last year. Well, here’s where I started. And frankly, it’s pretty ok. It’s got a lot of spices in it, decent amount of pumpkin in the taste. Overall though, it’s not too complex. Not bad though.
