CaptainCougar (4709), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 5, 2007 Sampled from a growler on 2/21/07: Pours an oily opaque with dark brown edges and a thin ring of tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel with a touch of plums and brown sugar. Body starts fairly full and sugary sweet with some earthy dark chocolate caramel and a slightly thinner, drier finish. A little on the weaker side of imperial stouts, but pretty well balanced and drinkable. MartinT (4475), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 29, 2004 Tinny roastiness near light blackberry syrup...Sweet chocolate and grassy bitterness in the back compliment each other well...Like Bièropholie’s, this light imperial stout could pass as a great, hearty stout if labelled as such... muzzlehatch (4429), Burlington, Vermont, USA Apr 26, 2004 TAP NY sample. Opaque, black, etc. Sweetish, slightly roasty nose, a bit vinous, thick, chocolaty, very very sweet, bit of licorice, just a bit too much carbonation. For an Imperial stout, blah; but a reasonably drinkable beer. goldtwins (3754), Nesconset, New York, USA Mar 5, 2007 Growler: I didn’t know what to expect but this was some decent stuff. the beer poured a very dark brown to black color with a golden brown rim. Small creamy brown head. With each swirl an of the glass an oily brown film was left. The aroma had a pleasant light roast and a fair amount of smokiness. Light sweetness and roast are found in the flavor. Mild bitterness on the finish give a decent balance. The mouthfeel was on the dull side.
