Aroma is malty, some roast, and a little bit smokey. The taste really brings out the malts. Toffee and more smoke. This is much different, and enjoyable, than expected. Probably because (and I’m not the first to mention it in a rating) it is no where near what the name suggests. Not a mixture either; I watched it come from the tap. Pours a clear brownish amber brew with a creamy and thick off-white head that slowly dissolves and leaves behind an excellent lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, roasted nuts, a touch of buttery and some flowery hops. Taste is smooth, medium bodied with a sweet caramel and roasted nut flavor. Finish is light, slightly sweet and then a clean aftertaste. jcwattsrugger (5583), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 0.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Sep 8, 2006 This is not even a beer . . . it is a mixed drink! ! ! It is a mixture of two beers. The bartender mixes equal parts of Helles Bock lager and Nut Brown ale. Thus this is neither an ale nor a lager. And since the mix can vary from bartender to bartender, the taste can also vary from glass to glass. This mix was apparently created just to lure the A-B Amberbock crowd. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 4, 2006 I have to say, that I almost like the Michelob version of the same name better than this one. Roasted and acidic, with some chocolate and truffles. But this is not a bock style at all. Not even close. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 2, 2006 Dark brown, foamy head, and sticky lace. Chocolatey and a little roasty. A touch buttery. Flavor is a little more roasty than the nose, luckily there were no buttery off tones. Light in the mouthfeel with a cocoa finish. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2006 Draught at the Brewpub: Dark muddy brown color, thin head. Nose of light nutty amber malt and a snatch of roast. The flavor is medium bodied and overall it’s an average quaffing beer, nice nutty qualities. No where near a bock though I might mention.
