Sampler at BRU. Appearance: small white head that was gone almost instantly, good lace, cloudy orange-yellow color. Aroma: citrus, floral, grass, all hops. Palate: sticky texture, soft-flat carbonation, light body. Taste: bitter nearly the entire time. Overall, poorly balanced, poor appearance, and not my favorite beer at the place.

On tap at the brewpub. Pour is hazy orange with a medium white head and pod lacing. Stale bread, orange peel, grapefruits, biscuity, slightly floral, rotten fruit, and honey in the aroma. Taste is stale hops, bready, grassy, slightly citrusy, grapefruit peel, and dough with a light bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Meh.

JAXSON (526) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Orange copper pour with a small thin head. Nose is candies orange peel, sort of thick malt. Mouth is weird, soapy and unpleasantly grassy, minty kind of. Hops buried beneath these strange juniper and soap notes. Body is too heavy as well, more malt than I would like with little balance. I admit, I’ve been spoiled drinking great Lawsons IPAs many nights recently, but this was strange and kind of gross.

Bomber poured a clear golden amber with a small lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of straw, lemon zest, juniper and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, juniper, light lemon zest and light earthiness with a smooth dry moderatley bitter lingering earthy finish.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot, dried flowers), with light notes of lemon and diacetyl, hint of wort. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Surprisingly clumsy compared to the Beezel...syrupy sweet without much to balance and not much hop presence in nose or mouth. I would never guess there’s any juniper in this, and even the lemon zest is mild...just smells like a (slightly stale, a la British bitters) fruity sugar cookie...which is not unpleasant, but a bit simple and uninteresting. Little bit of raw wort odor as well, but it’s fairly faint. Biggest problem is that unrelenting syrupy sweetness, it’s just no fun to drink. Attenuate, please!

Drank in Denver for GABF 2012. Pours a mostly clear copper color with a large white head. A sweet nose of pine and citrus. A somewhat thin palate. Lemons, very light bitterness, smooth, some pine in the finish. A nice IPA. Simple.
