BuckNaked (1198), Tempe, Arizona, USA Aug 19, 2004 On tap at brewery: Deep, opaque brown color with a small, but thick, creamy head. Lots of roasted notes in the aroma as well as some chocolate and pepper. I don’t know where I was getting pepper from, but it was definitely there....unclean glass maybe? Very roasty with some nuts, chocolate and coffee. Pretty smoothing drinking as well. To me there just seemed too much focus on the roasted flavors, without much complexity within. A little more hops, or perhaps some more complexity with the malt might add a lot to this beer. Sammy (3287), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2004 Roasty sweet black oatmeal stout. Not much graininess as a St. Ambroise or Fuller. More mocha and nuts than coffee, which is fine with my preference. Somewhat watery but fine to drink, unfiltered as all their line jgb9348 (1875), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Apr 3, 2004 Dark brown with a nice light brown head. Aroma strictly containing chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied; Roasty flavours throughout mostly consisting of an oatmeal and coffee presence. Aftertaste is sweet and bittered at the same time, a nice complexity! Overall, an all around good oatmeal, and a nice first beer to try at a new Rochester BrewPub! I had this on draught at the brewpub in Rochester, New York on 13-March-2004. haddon90 (985), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Mar 14, 2004 A pretty decent stout. Deep black color with a thick tan head. Nice roasted malt and a hint of chocolate. Smooth taste, kind of lacking a little, but nothing too bad. Overall a decent stout. Malty, chocolaty taste. On tap at the brewery.
