irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA Apr 10, 2004 a pleasant beep brown ale with an aroma of chocolate-y malts and hardwood (not peat) smoke. it is relatively sweet and light body, making it reasonably drinkable, although the sweetness is a little unbalanced. jgb9348 (1875), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Apr 3, 2004 Clear dark brown with a non-existing head. Aroma purely of nuts and coffee, not a bad thing, just not true to the style. Bitter chocolate and coffee flavours roam in the taste as well as a slight nuttiness. Aftertaste clean, not much going on at all. Overall, a decent scotch ale, not amazing, but worth trying if you are here at the brewpub! I had this on draught at the brewpub in Rochester, New York on 13-March-2004.
