pivo (2535), Germany Mar 12, 2006 Slight sulfury nose, yellow color, fluffy head. Thine weak citrus malt base, stingy tight bitter. Dry effect on tongue. quick and light. I like Zwickel beer as a style, but this isn’t the best example. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany Mar 6, 2006 Big rocky white head, hazy light orange color. A bit skunky but also grainy in the nose. Light hops taste .- a bit watery, but still nice. Thanks to the ambassador of Bruch Zwickel: Saarlander - for sending this! marcusm (50), Remich, Luxembourg Aug 18, 2005 A bottled sample, aroma of spritzy Saaz hops, a head lasting to the end of the glass - just off white. On the mouth, slightly murky gold colour, as you would expect from a naturally produced beer.
Well, it starts off with the hops biting the tongue, sliding down the palate, forming creamy malty notes, filing the tongue with flavour, ending with a note of hoppy cream soda in the mouth. A lucious beer, worth seeking out. I buy this by the case close to a micro in Germany - no question, need beer, buy some here - visit the micro too (Abteibrau in Metlach) dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany Jul 12, 2005 Bottled. Slightly cloudy yellow colour. Small, but stable and rocky head. Aroma is bready, yeasty and grassy. Lemony, herbal hoppy, sweetish taste. Quite carbonated, appearance and mouthfeel-wise, for a zwickelbier. Nothing special, but decent. Many thanks to saarlander and his wife, for generously sending me this beer. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Jan 8, 2005 ok, I was Rudolfs santa, and I´m sitting in Germany on vacation with one in my hand right now, so I better rate it!lol. Mine is a bit fresher I think, as I am near the brewery. Light gold color, decent head. Very hoppy, citriusy, throw in a little herb taste to boot. A bit of sweet aftertaste, but not too much. I drink these quite often overhere in Saarland, its one of the better beers for a good price. Will drink again. Bruch makes some decent brew. rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 7, 2005 Did my Santa give me a beer that nobody else has rated? Cool! Thanks!! Cloudy, light gold. Nose is slightly cidery. Sweetish malt tonic flavor. Hints of lemon. Finish is overly sweet, slightly herbal.
