3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mds (2119) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 5, 2004
HUGE sudsy head lasts forever! Aroma of sour apples, sweet yeast. Tastes fizzy, carbonated, and dry. Not the greatest belgian ale I've tried, but still quite nice.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 dhurtubise (568) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 3, 2004
Oh what an exquisite little session ale. Complex beyond the alcohol content, this lively little belgian is rich in fruit and malt and fit for consumption in high volumes. Too bad this is not regularly availavle in Ontario.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BeerLimey (2135) - California, USA - FEB 26, 2004
Clouded orangey amber hue, strong carbonation, good foam. Sweet malty, spicy aroma with vinegary cheesey notes. Overly carbonated on the palate and pretty thin. Starts out sweet with some fruitiness, finishes sour with a slight bite. Less carbonation and more body would make this decent.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - FEB 24, 2004
Huge thick creamy white head. Drank out of the chimay glass with the etch in the bottom and this created a volcano of head coming up through the rest of the one-fingered white head. Lots of lacing down the glass as it goes too. The aroma is nutty with a pinch of caramel and lightly tart qualities. The flavor is earthy and medium bodied. More like a belgian ale than a amber....oh wait, that's the the category says. WTF is up with the bottle then?! Is an amber ale in belgian really a belgian ale? So an american amber is an american ale?! I'm confused. Anyways, back to the rating. Finishes very yeasty (I poured in the bottle conditioning, tee hee) and sulfuric. Overall this was pretty average as far as belgians and might I say, a macro belgian? Not to say they aren't artisinal, it's just that they seem pretty common and widely distributed. ok, not macro, "mass marketed". I live if fucking Idaho, if I can get this it must be something pretty damn widely distributed.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - FEB 23, 2004
Light amber color. Light aroma, corky (it is a corked Magnum bottle). Very dry mouthfeel, quite poor.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 haddon90 (1225) - Tustin, California, USA - FEB 19, 2004
An interesting ale. On tap at the Sunspot Cafe in Knoxville, TN. Nice light brownish colored pour with a decent head. Interesting taste. Malty aroma. Kind of sour, yet sweet as well. Sharp bite as well. Decent ale indeed!
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - FEB 17, 2004
Bottle explodes a light brown with an overabundant tannish colored frothy/dishwater like head. The carbonation of this one just cant wait to get out of the glass.   Lacing seems nice. Aroma is of tart apples and raisins. Initial taste yields a yeasty sulfur like taste, along with some mold & earth hints. Finish is a bit tart, perhaps like unsweetened fruit. Mouthfeel is explosive, overly carbonated. Not bad, but probably not something I would have again.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JCapriotti (1379) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 10, 2004
Huge frothy head atop a hazy amber/copper body. Hay-like dry fruit aroma with grape skin hints. Flavor is light and tastes sweet & dry like watered-down slightly yeasty sprite. Too much carbonation... burns the tongue. Nothing special to me.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Syd (920) - Waconia, Minnesota, USA - JAN 30, 2004
Bottle pours an amber color with a large head that consists of large bubbles below the head sheen with little lace. The aroma is yeasty and malty. The flavor is dry and lightly yeasty with a fairly rich body. Overall, average to slightly above.

11.2 oz capped bottle: huge flowing, mash potato like head above a cloudy orange brown body. Chewy, banana/coriander aroma with lemon zest, crusty bread, and yeast. Bitter oranges offer a decent start, but the lack of any real malt and a dry, distant finish don't sit well with me. . .
