COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

Innocuous Belgian Amber Ale. Average aroma, no remarkable notes, pretty ordinary lager smell. Yellow-orange color, light white head. Some light yeast taste, a bit watery and thin body. Very forgettable. I love the label too bad the beer doesn’t live up to it.

Bottle at Salisbury’s Arms, Malta. It pours clear amber with a decent white head. The nose is toasted grain, orange, candied peel, natural yoghurt and cereal. The taste is bitter-sweet, brown bread, grassy bitterness, orange peel, earth and some spice with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough Belgian Ale.

Basic Belgian ale primarily intended for export and therefore relatively hard to find on the Belgian market. Thick, off-white, regular, sticky, stable foam, colour a darkish and brownish peachy blonde, cloudy. Yeasty aroma, bready malts, toast, cookie dough, hazelnut paste, coriander, dill seed, lemon peel, cream, nutmeg, bark. Crispy malty taste, cookie- and nut-like, strong, tingling carbonation, subtle but nevertheless pointy, citrussy acidity, probably caused by mild infection but not too disturbing; finish dryish, but could have been hoppier. In all, not that bad (for a Van Steenberge at least).

Very hoppy aroma. Light cloudy golden colour with excellent head. Hoppy, slightly alcoholic flavour with bitter finish. Light body with medium carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Hazy amber with a small to medium sized white head. Smells very sweet, malts. Tastes malts, sweet and very weird. Can’t put my finger on it. Medium body, soft carbo.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Clear medium orange color, medium sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, slightly a hint of sourness. A bit hard to describe, but for sure it’s unclean.

It has a nice golden amber color with a slight haze. The head was crazy big, white in color and foamy with stiff peaks. It had a very long retention time and left cool lacing on the glass. The aroma is full and has notes of sour apples and pears with earthy/funky Belgian yeast and doughy malts. It has a sour funky favor with some fruity esters as well. The first sip has a puckering affect on the palate. Then there is a dry earthy yeast flavor with some doughy malts and light fruity esters that give it some nice complexity. The body is light to medium with a somewhat thin texture that is alive with carbonation. Overall I really enjoyed this ale. It had a nice refreshing character that would work very well with a light lunch, sea food, mild cheese or fruit.

Beer looks and smells allright. Orangy, light amber color and a nice big head. The flavor on the other hand is not the one i expected from an amber ale at all. Tastes very sour and weird. Didn’t finish teh bottle.

Bottle shared. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, coriander, a hint of caramel and malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
