Bottle. I did not enjoy this at all. Pours an amber body with aroma of malt , pilsner hops, some spicy yeast (barely). Flavor is malty, slightly skunked with some rotting fruit. no thanks.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 duff (5483) - St, Margarets, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 28, 2004
Bottle. On the bland side for a Be;gian ale. This had some reasonable orange rind and spice flavours (maybe a touch of caramel aswell??), however the character didn’t strike me as particularly Belgian, easy to drink.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - FEB 24, 2004
Huge thick creamy white head. Drank out of the chimay glass with the etch in the bottom and this created a volcano of head coming up through the rest of the one-fingered white head. Lots of lacing down the glass as it goes too. The aroma is nutty with a pinch of caramel and lightly tart qualities. The flavor is earthy and medium bodied. More like a belgian ale than a amber....oh wait, that's the the category says. WTF is up with the bottle then?! Is an amber ale in belgian really a belgian ale? So an american amber is an american ale?! I'm confused. Anyways, back to the rating. Finishes very yeasty (I poured in the bottle conditioning, tee hee) and sulfuric. Overall this was pretty average as far as belgians and might I say, a macro belgian? Not to say they aren't artisinal, it's just that they seem pretty common and widely distributed. ok, not macro, "mass marketed". I live if fucking Idaho, if I can get this it must be something pretty damn widely distributed.

Bottle. Amber color, small white head. Aroma of caramel. Taste is similar. Not much character or complexity.

Winter touched raspberry joined together with may flowers; it is missing something, aroma of Belgium? Friendly appearance, light dull amber with fast disappearing white head. Yes, this one can wake up your tongue fast, sharp flavour, a bit watery feel. It gave me impression that it was diluted in ratio 2:3.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - SEP 18, 2004
UPDATED: OCT 22, 2005 The tight, frothy head almost explodes out of the bottle and into the glass. I couldn’t do a complete pour from an 11.2 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Orange/amber color and quite hazy with clumps of particles floating around in it. A very spicy nose, quite a spicy taste, with a bitter-sweet finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Drake (5231) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAR 2, 2009
330 mL bottle from Greenwood Gourmet Grocery near Crozet, VA. Pours a reddish amber color, slightly hazy, with a surprisingly small head considering it was such an explosive gusher. Decent head retention and nice lacing. Odd aroma of toasted malts, caramel, raisins and a slight tart note. Taste is toasted malts, caramel, toffee and bitter hops. Full bodied. Strange one.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Ernest (5183) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 17, 2002
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2005 Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminsihing. Body is clear dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cereal), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a note of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Not pleasant.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DruncanVeasey (5145) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 25, 2007 Lagery gold pour. Intensely sweet malty-hoppy nose developing some gueuzish vinegar as it warms. In fact, it smells exactly like gueuze. But flavour-wise, crisply hoppy with a nicely rounded bready maltiness in the finish. Pleasantly metallic. Somewhere between a very sweet malty lager and a hoppy straw ale. Tasty and refreshing.
