2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Aesir (130) - Tustin, California, USA - MAY 7, 2005
Amber color. Has a slightly sweet earthy smell. Taste starts off with a bit of sweet malt and finishes on a strong lemon note. No noticeable hops. Looks like a couple of man-kissers on the label.

Cloudy Amber Coloring. Yeasty. Of the Belgians I have had...gotta shoot this one down towards the bottom.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Kinz (2694) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - AUG 22, 2006
Medium brown, decent head. Slightly dusty and fruity aroma. Flavor is strange, bit of fruit, but then this weird, dusty bitterness. Frankly, I didn’t like this at all.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Boutip (3458) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 6, 2006
Bottle: Poured a clear light amber color ale with a big foamy head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malt is a bit overpowering with too much sugar. Taste is also exceedingly sweet with no yeast characteristic and a light body that doesn’t really hold up very well. I also didn’t notice any bitterness as mentioned in the description. Definitely not something that I would seek again.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 hayduke (2528) - Eureka, California, USA - JUN 25, 2007
Bottle. Poured a caramel colored brown with a fat off-white head and nice hunks of lacing. Nose is malts with strong caramel. Mouthfeel fizzy and not very enjoyable. Flavor is sweet, and there are lots of odd flavors. Not very enjoyable.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 marcus (4051) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 25, 2008
This amber ale poured with a thin off-white head, eliciting a fruity aroma. The flavor is bready with a carbonate mouthfeel and an astringet fruity finish. The body is way too thin.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 thebeertourist (4060) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 8, 2007
Bottle. Deep red amber, quite clear, smallish head. Neutral sweet and burnt aromas. Burnt caramel flavours, rather sweet. Lightish body. A disappointment from Van Steenberge.

11.2 oz bottle pours golden yellow with only a slight head. Nice malt taste but too much of a bitter aftertaste with adequate carbonation. Not bad but not outstanding either.

Bottle Malty sweet aroma, and it tastes malty sweet, too. Some caramel. Watery and boring.

So this is like Belgium’s answer to Budweiser...right? Right? This must be some definition of Belgium Ale I was previously unaware of...right? Right? Weird aftertaste of Gerber’s baby food or something.
