3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 SPDickerman (323) - Texas, USA - OCT 25, 2011
Pours amber with small off-white head. Smells super malty with some hoppiness and Belgian yeastiness. Taste is kind of funky but not sour, some bitterness and some sweetness, but overall not what a "Belgian ale" or "amber ale" should taste like. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and average mouth-carbonation, Bruegel Amber Ale finishes kind of unimpressively: average is the best I can think of for this.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (1837) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - OCT 24, 2011
12 ounce bottle
The last of a Belgian sampler pack, this particular release was a safe and unremarkable amber ale. Of the selections it was one of those beers that you could drink but would soon forget. There are no major flaws to speak of; however there are also few things to wow the palate.
Aroma / Appearance - The one huge issue was that the beer was a bit of a gusher. When it eventually settled down I was left with a chestnut colored base topped by a spoonful of topioca pudding. The nose was nutty with touches of caramel and malt. An overall sweetness provided some interest.
Flavor / Palate - Caramel, icing from a sweet cheesecake, and warm tea soothe the palate. The flavors soon fade on the back of the tongue. The silky finish was like cream pie after a sip of cool water. Overall not bad but there are simply too many other better Belgian releases to drink instead.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 11, 2011
Originally rated February 2006. Best before date is 08/02/07. This Belgian amber ale pours a, well... deep amber colour with an off-white head that is bubbly and creamy. Retention is very good and lacing is not bad. Carbonation is well and alive, with tiny bubbles. Good spicy nose with some grainy malts. Smooth mouthfeel. Taste is caramel, light green apples, spices and a mild nutty finish. Maybe a bit too light. Good lingering raisin taste. Quite nice though for a light Belgian ale.
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 AWMiller (476) - Mansfield, Texas, USA - SEP 21, 2011
This brew poured up a rich copper-colored body with a thick foamy head with great retention and lacing effects. Served slightly cooler than room temperature, the aromas of apples, malts and yeast (biscuits or bread) were just amazing. This medium-bodied brew produced some incredible flavors of warm caramels, sweet malts, and candy apples followed up with a slightly ‘hoppy’ finish.
1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 dyetube (981) - McKinney, Texas, USA - SEP 13, 2011
Bottle from beer store in McKinney. Pours a deep amber/brown with a ruin off white head. The aromas are old musk, bread, stale clothes. The mouthfeel is water and bland with a light body. Cheers!
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TomTron (82) - Aiken, South Carolina, USA - AUG 22, 2011
Pours a yellowish amber color with a thin, consistent head. Not much in the aroma, maybe some belgian yeast coming through and some maltiness. Tastes of yeast, some caramel, and even a little bit of bread. Has a very watery mouthfeel after it goes down. Pretty easy drinking but nothing exciting. I could have a couple of these but I would get bored with it.

Light amber in color with small off-white head and minimal lace. Aromas of cereal, floral hops and some yeast. Taste is slightly sweet up front with a light hoppy finish. Carbonation is good, but body a little to light.
