Commercial Description:
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

Aroma of spice, tea leaves, and sweet malts. Amber-orange in color, thin head. Medium bodied, bittering hops balanced well by the bready malts. Not bad.

Nice amber color with a cream colored rocky and lingering head that leaves a beautiful lacing. It smells awesome with a huge toffee note and some nuts. High carbonation for a belgian ale. Well defined toffee and caramel flavor and roasted finish. Surprisingly simple and drinkable though. No hops noticeable, makes it sweet but not cloying and very enjoyable. Some alcohol punch. Very different from other belgian ales also. Original and well done brew.

Bottle (330ml). Beer of Belgium Gift pack 1of6. Poured clear bubbly reddish-amber with a smallish fizzy off-white lasting head. Aroma of candy-apple roast malt, some sweet booze like Southern Comfort or apricot schnapps, some light vanilla spice and mild oak on warming - appealing but a little unbalanced. Taste is of fruit, sweet roast malt, a bit of slightly harsh grain. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky, has a lengthening bitter finish as it warms - not bad, better than I remembered.

As unappealing as it may sound, this beer actually has the flavor of brandy in it-but it must be tasted fresh to appreciate how it works out. When new, it is a very refreshing ale with the oddness of flavors in there, but still a sustaining light ale flavor. Because of its alcohol content it really does not age well.. and I have had bottles of this which had not aged well, they tasted quite bad which probably accounts for this ale’s low rating. A very worthy ale if you’re able to get it fresh or at the source, though.

Poured a clear effervescent amber with a small fizzy white head. Sweet aroma of butterscotch and bubble gum. Taste is butterscotch, toffee, some mild acidity and some light dry grassy hops. Bland finish. OK I suppose, but a blah session beer.

33 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. Amber colour with a weak head. Malty aroma with hints of roastness. Malty flavour with also roastness in it. Remind me of a English brown ale. But some way more dull.
