2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 HighlanderOne (746) - Bergen County, New Jersey, USA - OCT 14, 2006
Poured from bottle (Belgian sampler). Clear amber. Gassy aroma of rotting veggies and apples. Theres a part of the flavor I like (malt) and a part I don’t (vinegar-like aftertaste). That aroma is prevalent with every sip and that’s not good. Its like someone mixed a great beer withy a bad one, or maybe this is just aging badly. Couldn’t finish this one.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Aurelius (3077) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - OCT 5, 2006
A chalky, cocoa-laced, diacetyl, slightly smokey aroma with a bitter-style malt current. Nice label, very clear rosy brownish beer with a thinnish lacy head. Moderately sweet, fairly tart without fruitiness, latent bittering, some astringency. Lingering astringent bitterness in the finish. Medium to medium-light body. Session.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20 crazyvin (1535) - New York, USA - OCT 4, 2006
kind of disappointing. Aroma was offensive (sour). poured an amber hue with a mild white head. This beer was really thin. flavor initally was sour too, but afterwards had a bubblegum/banana like aspect to it. it was not enough to save this beer. Im glad i only had one.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tennisjoel (1105) - Rochester, Minnesota, USA - SEP 27, 2006
Bottle rating. Golden in color, thin white head. Aroma is a little offensive, diacetyl, buttery, combined with a medicinal quality. However, I don’t get that in the taste luckily. But, there isn’t a lot of flavor other than soapy and a slight belgianesque type carbonation. Pretty thin, but I wasn’t expecting much.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 reakt (946) - Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 17, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2007 Another vintage rate from London’s Belgian Beer Festival 2005. Cask. Clear amber in colour (with a specific hue noted: sunset orange) with small white head. Yeasty nose with notes of fruit, bread and carrot cake. Nice taste of raisins, bread and gin? Really, gin? I can’t quite make out what it says, but I think it’s gin. Nevermind. Slightly metallic, creamy finish. All in all fairly good.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 hophead75 (2005) - Largo, Florida, USA - SEP 5, 2006
bottle. pours golden with a medium off white head, and lively carbonation. The aroma was something on this that I was not expecting, was either coffee, or a butterscotch, and it was heavy, possible diacetyl? not sure. Taste however was a bit more tart with some grainy and butterscotch flavors pushed towards the back of the beer. weird.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 presario (3976) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 1, 2006
Bonus from Piscator34. Copper with a nice frothy head and delicate lacing. Bit of a weird aroma. A bit of nutmeg or pepper, malt and something a little sour and sharp. Body comes of a little thin. Has to be drunk relatively warm. Intriguing combination of brown sugar and sourness hinted at in the aroma.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 unclemattie (3241) - Georgia, USA - AUG 22, 2006
Bought this in a Flanders, Belgium 6pk. ( global beer network promotion) Amber color, white fizzy head. Slight malt, a little breadyish. This is one of the better ones in the pack.
