COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

33 cl bottle. Part of a sampler six of vSteen. beers from <a href=http://ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/oak-forest in Oak Forest, meaning it may have set awhile without air conditioning. I’d think to start with the lightest abv beer, which would have suffered most. So, this one frothed over when opened, even after being in my fridge for two months. Healthy looking foam in the glass, but it shriveled away quickly. Managed to preserve a nice Belgian malt smell with a little sourness. Color is reddish-amber with gold outlines, a watercolor of a beer in my tulip glass. Millions of unfiltered particles well-distributed. Taste shows a little of that sourness that may be from getting warm, but not a bad off flavor. A bit of strawberry nectar, too. Golden pils or vienna level malt, offset by a little bitterness. Prickly carbonation. I’d have thought it bottle conditioned, but no yeast at the bottom. Kind of a less sour version of some old Jenlain Six I once had. Not bad. I’d hope to someday find an assuredly fresher one.

Decent Belgian. Pour was a light to medium brown with no head. Aroma was honey and malt. Taste was sweet like a mix of honey, malt and yeast with not as much carbonation as most Belgians. Nice

This pours a cloudy amber color with a small white head. Aroma was grassy, and sweet. Flavor was sweet grassy and a weird sourness that is not good. Not a good belgian at all

Bottle. A hazy reddish golden color with a tan head. Talk about a whole lot of nothing going on this beer. A little caramel malt aroma that doesn't carry over into the flavor. Light and empty.

Banana nose. Amber color with large sediments, thick white head, good lace. Quite sour apple and lemon flavor. Thin mouthfeel, delightfully sour, but simple.

The Dan Journal #189. Tasted 7/3/08. 330ml bottle. Filtered with a golden hue. Lingering lacing white head. Perfumy wheaty nose. Estery. Medium bodied and tart. Bready malt notes. Tangy and fruity with a subtle caramel flavor. Average.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2005 Bottled, picked up in Brugge.Foggy, white misted amber. Dull malt flavour amongst the large, slightly astringent aroma. Dull, dry and coarse flavour and palate.
Also had at the Belgian Fest in East Croydan and had to add this to the rating for Duff. ’Duff says bready caramel, Wow, woo hoo yeh....carmel’.

Light amber coloured beer with a rather small off-white head and some little carbonation. Light buttery, malty aroma. Full palate. Finish is full malty and a light bitter touch. Nice one, but nothing special
