Part of the Nice Carrefour crate during the Nice-Cannes Marathon week. A moderately malty sweet bitter. Nuts and raisins and a lingering powdery bitterness. Pleasant enough and well conditioned as is the way with the Belgians, but not remarkable. A bit like T.E.A., but conditioned with lively yeast and candi sugar. In the UK this would be classed a Bitter, in the US an Amber Ale, in France a Bier de Garde, as it is made in Belgian it is classed as a Belgian Ale. I hope that makes sense to someone.

330 ml bottle. Clear amber colour. Medium-sized white head. Nutty caramel aromas. Notes of burnt caramel. Hints of physalis. Light-bodied. Some mellow caramel malts, but overall t is not really particularly interesting. OK, but nothing more.

This is an ok Belgian Ale. Somewhat bland, tart, and yeasty. Finishes crisp, smooth, and dry.

copper color w/ off white head. fruity aroma with a hint of citrus. sweet, fruity, it’s thin bodied and smooth drinking.

caramel colored beer with small off-white head. flavor is mostly caramel and toffee. medium-light bodied. nice sour caramel apple flavors but lacks in the aroma department.

Transparent ruby amber, nice three finger head, pleasant sizzle and mostly lasting. Aromas of yeast, nuts, bread, caramel and faint alcohol. Flavor is mostly sweet malts and yeast, finishing with a warm clean finish. Very light in the mouth. Faint lacing.

Pasadena, CA. An off honey taste and aroma. Not very good. Bad for the Belgium reputation.

A Mes rate: Great label. Great glass. Let down by the important bit. Full on yeast hit. Dry and slightly sour. Very lively in the mouth. A novelty toke but nothing more.
