Murky orange in colour. Malty, light caramel aroma. Flavour is slightly sweet and hoppy. Finishes slightly bitter and light. Really simple.

Amber clear with large creamy white chunky head generating scattered lace blobs. Very faint but pleasant floral, light bitter hops, and some reminders of decaying Belgian roadside ditch water algae aroma. Sprightly bitter start but fades rather quickly to more of a faintly sour flat English draft ale than a Belgian anything.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 dhlesq (233) - Thousand Oaks, California, USA - MAR 16, 2004
Initial toasty aroma, almost like roasted peanut shells, followed by aromas of darkened caramel. Appears with a mellow, bronze hue, with notable lasting effervescence. Thick foamy, lingering head, typical of belgian ales. Mild flavor that is somewhat bitter on finish, with an almost alkaline taste that is not altogether pleasant. Good body with an overly slick mouthfeel and the overcarbonation that is also typical with belgian ales. Overall good presentation, but somewhat ruined by the taste.

All the same characteristics of the usual Steenberge suspects although it’s drier, more metallic and clearly the most bitter of the bunch. Meh!
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cornfield (5238) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - SEP 18, 2004
UPDATED: OCT 22, 2005 The tight, frothy head almost explodes out of the bottle and into the glass. I couldn’t do a complete pour from an 11.2 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Orange/amber color and quite hazy with clumps of particles floating around in it. A very spicy nose, quite a spicy taste, with a bitter-sweet finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 larsga (4426) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 8, 2007
Small white head. Chestnut brown body with intense carbonation. Light sweetish caramel and paper aroma. Taste is light sweet paper and caramel. Tobaccoish aftertaste. Carbonation in mouth. Decent, but boring. (0.33l bottle.)

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2006 Below average beer, especially for a belgian. Aroma was salty, like a sweaty ice rink. Color was nice murky red. Flavor was stale honey and malt, with little hops.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 SoLan (1550) - Florida, USA - APR 9, 2006
Clear amber. One cm of frothy, white head. Lightly toasted caramel, muted, crisp hops, and grains- aroma. Same flavors. Dry, slightly bitter and yeasty finish. Medium body, just to the sparkling side of balanced. Nice lacing as it goes down. "Soft" is an excellent word for this beer. Nothing exciting, but quite tasty and very drinkable.
