A lightly hazed dark brown ale with a thick frothy mocha head. In aroma, smooth molasses and dark fruits, with light ginger, orange peels, lemon touches, and licorice. In mouth, a rich bodied burned caramel malt with light licorice, treacle, light alcohol (noting the 5%), very roasted, well done.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of lemon, carmel, yams and a hint of spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of lemon, toffee, light yam and light spice with a crisp lingering lemon finish.

Tap at Naja’s. Pours hazy brown with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with good lacing. Aroma is birch, spiced, toast and caramel malt, earth notes and dates. Flavor is malt forward, spices, fruity esters, cumin, lemon and a dry finish. Light body and warmth with medium carbonation.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy brown appearance with a light brown head. Citrusy, potpourri, air freshener, a touch toasty malty, hugely floral aroma. Toasty pumpkin, lemon citrusy, big floral flavor. Floral, pumpkin aftertaste. Weird beer- I won’t be drinking any more than this one but it isn’t all that bad.

Cloudy brownish pour, creamy head. Loads of spices in the nose, roasted pumpkin, candi sugar, syrup and some gingery notes. Sweet flavor, spicy, yeast, tons goin on in this one and in a pretty good way. Tap at the Bruery Provisions on my crazy birthday San Diego trip with Storminorman.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep mahogany color with an off white head. Aromas of caramel, herbal, some pumpkin and some spices. Tastes of toasted pumpkin seeds, spices, caramel, and citrus. Different.

Something different. The pumpkin was well in the secondary of taste to the herbs and slight bitterness and woodiness. I liked it and could drink this anytime, particular at this level of sessionability.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown colour with a thick stick tan head. The aroma is really interesting. Sort of an herbal root beer/minty top note along with a bit of soft warming spiciness. Palate definitely shows some cooling character that contrasts nicely with some warming components. There is a mix of citrus and spice that reminds me of sarsparilla. Nicely spiced with a lightness that belies the appearance. Unique and quite tasty - would definitely love to have another few bottles.

355mL thanks to Travlr. Pours a clear light amber with a decent yellowish off-white head. Nose is wildly herbal heavy with big lavender, candied yams, and other spices that seem familiar but I can’t quite place like powerful lemon herbal tea (I see now lemon verbena and fenugreek which I am not familiar with). Good combo though- no complaints but get ready for herbal overload. Taste is surprisingly neutral with a sessionable, light palate. Not expecting something so balanced and calm given Stone and the Bruery having their hands in this. Full attenuation, long bitter lemon finish. Refreshing herbal tea and fresh garden character. I really enjoyed this but I love herbal beers like Stillwater Cellar Door etc.
