Yams, sugar pumpkins, fenugreek, lemon verbena all made their way into this crazy pumpkin collaboration. There was rye malt (both regular and dark), brown and honey malts, and some C-15 dextrine malt. They also put birch bark in the whirlpool–why not? It’s woodsy and sort of autumnal, after all. La Citrueille was finished with New Zealand Motueka hops. And if you were wondering, the name means the heavenly pumpkin of Citricado, which is the street the Stone digs are on.

A lightly hazed dark brown ale with a thick frothy mocha head. In aroma, smooth molasses and dark fruits, with light ginger, orange peels, lemon touches, and licorice. In mouth, a rich bodied burned caramel malt with light licorice, treacle, light alcohol (noting the 5%), very roasted, well done.

Bottle - Toasted malts, chocolate and spices. Complex but sweet and pleasant nose much like gingerbread. Dark brown and clear with a off white head. Pumpkin, molasses and gingerbread. Mellow bitterness, a great dark pumpkin beer.

Bottle from Total Wine Ft Lauderdale. It pours deep brown, with a decent white head. The nose is sweet orange, lemon, pumpkin, spice, earth and caramel. The taste is orange, apricot, pumpkin, pine, leather, earth, spice, roasty notes and resin, with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Ok, but nothing special.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks eyes_wide_shut and YK23. Deep red color. Aroma of a bit of pumpkin, verbena and some more spices, malt and hints of chocolate. Sweetish flavor with malt, some pumpkin, caramel, spices and herbs and a bit of roasty notes. Finishes drier. Medium-bodied. Not bad and pretty interesting.

Sample at Bruery Provisions. This beer is a clear chestnut color with a medium thin light beige head that dissipates quickly. Short strings of lace on the glass. Aroma of ginger, citrus and roasted malt. Light body with flavors of herbs, lemon and sweet malt. The finish is mildly spiced with a short citrus aftertaste. More or less average overall.
