On tap at the GTMW 2011. Dark brown near black pour with a small off white head. Aroma of raisins, belgian yeast, some dark fruit and fruity esters. Some candi sugar, mild dried fruits. Pretty nice aroma all told. Flavor is fruity, sweet, mild Belgian yeasty fruitiness. Some tobacco, some rich dried fruits. Nice mouthfeel with typical Belgian mouthfeel. Solid Quad. I need to have more from this brewery.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nellie (312) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 26, 2010
Smells like beef shishkabobs. tastes like caramel, alcohol is there but not dominant, leather, prunes, and deep earthly soil. No really. I know what deep earthly soil tastes like. I am a deep earthly soil connoisseur.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thirdeye11 (4093) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 26, 2010
(draught at brewpub) cloudyedium brown pour, thick soapy tan head. Nose of anise, leather, Belgian yeast, raisin. Taste of raisin, anise, leather, dark raisins (if such a thing existed, quite rich), lots of spices, Belgian yeast. Great prickly Carbonation, medium body, excellent linger and no hint of the nearly 12%+ the bartender indicated this was. Awesome and endlessly complex. Could use a bit more sweetness as a very minor complaint.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2011 On draught at the brewpub, served in a small snifter. The beer is a dark mahogany color with maroon around the edges. Medium thin beige head that diminishes to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit and caramel. Rich body with an earthy character and flavors of raisins, dark malts and caramel. The finish is malty with a ripe fruity aftertaste. Good all around.

On tap at Brugge. Murky purple, brown body with minimal head. Aroma of prune, raisin and plum. Big fig, clove, and slight banana. Massive flavor of clove and banana mixed with the dark fruits noticed in the nose. Some heat and warming in the finish. Like a hybrid Belgian, with characteristics of a dubble, triple and quad.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - MAY 13, 2006
Tap at Brugge Brasserie. Small tan fizzy head that quickly dissipated, good lacing, cloudy, no visible carbonation, and a brown and somewhat purple hue. Caramel, licorice, sweet, some clove notes, and dark fruits for the nose. Flavor was caramel, not overly vinuous, sweet malt, and dark fruit. Mouthfeel was mostly smooth. Medium body. Very quaffable and a very enjoyable brew. Nicely done!
