DLD ’11 from growler, thanks! Reddish orange pour with thick white head, aroma had notes of belgian candi sugar, some fruity esters with apricot, touch of toffee and caramel, some nice spice notes as well to go along with the bread character. Taste is similar with notes of sweet fruit, spice, some bread and toffee, finishing slightly dry. Not bad, definitely more a belgian than a red.

Sample from a growler brought down to STL by the Hoosier Beer Geeks for the Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition Festival- thanks, guys! Pours a cloudy reddish-golden-amber color with a finger-thick off-white head. Notes of sweet, bready malts, a bit of Belgian yeast, apricots, candi sugar, toffee, and biscuits. Medium-bodied, with a malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Not a dull amber ale, definitely sweeter and more Belgian than most things called ’red ales’.

Had on tap at Brugge in Indy. Caramel backing, tasty. As it warmed, alcohol came through and killed it for me.

Draft @ Brugge - This is a pretty well balanced beer that I would not have called a Belgian persay. Just tastes like a straight across Amber Ale, with some very bready caramely notes and some bitterness cutting through in the finish. Not terribly exciting considering they only had two beers on tap.
