Good sized white head of varying sized bubbles. Great carbonation keeps a thin hot spot of foam on the surface. Light fruity aroma, with some yeast and spices, oranges and a bit of flowers. Hazy orange in color. Wow, unique flavor. Lots of oranges, chewy sweet malts, light yeast and spices. Noticable alcohol presence but does not really detract from the flavor. Velvety soft in the mouth and very mellow. No bite to this brew at all which kind of means very little hops to me. Finishes soft and mellow with a little lingering orange and malt. An interesting brew that I am not sure should be a triple but then again, I am not sure what other category it should go into.

22 oz bottle Picked up at Keg Liquors in Clarksville, IN this is the second time that I have tried this. On a fresh palate it was completely different than after thirty other samples. I’d love to try it one more time if I can find it on tap; perhaps my bottle just wasn’t that great. Aroma / Appearance - A foamy huge two finger head subsided down into a golden fluid body. Honey, graham crackers, cotton candy, and a bit of ham make it different than most tripels. Flavor / Palate - Chewy honey and cough syrup drop this to average at best. A warm vinous finish improves the tasting. Bready and dense at times it alternates between solid and bland. In the end I wouldn’t mind giving it a third chance if I ever make it to Indianapolis.

Goblet at J Gumbos Indy - Aroma of sweet yeast, floral spice and coriander. Pours cloudy gold with a small head and good lacing. Flavor is bread dough and quite spicy, on the verge of too spicy as it can be a little rough in the finish, almost astringent. Palate is sticky and tart. It’s tasty, but could use a little something to soften it up and make me want to drink more.

A good, if unexceptional tripel. Nice, medium gold color, with a hints at copper and red. Nose is spicy and yeasty. Flavor is the same, though perhaps a touch too sweet. A little dry in the finish.

extra from Sephiroth. Lazy and still in the glass. Seemingly overspiced - or just a very strong yeast presence with little balance. Lifeless and too sweet. Strong alcohol. I like this brewery’s stuff, what little I had. This was the first real disappointment.

Pours a hazed golden yellow with a decent but quickly diminishing white head. The nose is lightly sweet and very fruity. Very small alcohol, lightly spicy. All light malt, as it should be. Not a ton of character, but no flaws. Some small peppery notes. Creamy and substantial mouthfeel. A bit creamy. A bit acidic to lightly astringent. Fruity. The spiciness is much more forward than it was in the nose. Alcohol heat peaks out. A bit creamy. Balanced though. Lingering alcohol heat. Not a ton of dimensions, but well done for the style and packed with flavor, though not sweet and syrupy as this style can tend towards.

Draft at Brugge Brasserie. Appears light orange hued golden with a creamy white head. Hints of rich and funky yeast on a predominantly sweet citric fruity nose. Tart with a sweet body and bitter grapefruity finish. Quite rich and sweet. Full and nicely carbonated with a lingering dryness.

Cornfield (5362) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - SEP 9, 2008
Bottle: (Am I the first bottle rater?) It poured a hazy light golden amber with a short-lived, modest creamy head. No lace. The aroma has warm spices, citrus and pome fruits, warm bread, alcohol, and a touch of butterscotch. Nicely rounded, creamy mouthfeel heated with white peppers. The flavor’s a touch of a letdown, being reduced to sweet pale malt, alcohol, and a lightened touch of spices. Not bad, but nothing special.

on tap-pours a white head and cloudy gold color. Aroma is medium fruit-apple, rock candy, medium malt. Taste is clove/medium fruit-apple, rock candy, medium malt, spices. Alcohol with a formaldehyde finish being the only detractor.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy golden body with a tall creamy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, outhouse, herbal, grass, and apricot. Flavor of floral, candi sugar, herbs, and earthiness with a dry finish.
