Brugge Tripel is the unsurpassed city beer of the people of Bruges. This beer has a well-rounded malt character, an aromatic hop character and a great complexity of flavours. The taste truly evoques the very best of Bruges!

330ml bottle received as a present. Pale amber colour, with a foamy head that evaporated quickly. Aroma has some sweetness and fruit. The taste has this too, with a warmth from the high alcohol content.

On tap. Pours a clear golden beer. Aromas of coriander, malts. Taste is bitter and spicy but with a nasty metallic after taste.

Yellow golden beer with a nice with head. Low carbonation. Smell is fruity. Taste is like a ordenary belgium tripel, with some herbs.

A pretty standard tripel. In that respect, this is a pretty affordable variety. Lots of belgian spice, some decent hop bitterness.

Warm yellow color with a little off-white head that won’t stay very long. Complex flavour that needs more than one bottle to get a grip on. Mildly bitter with a pleasant finish. Will certainly buy again.

A pale honey taste while aroma is a little clear. medium body with average palate. Foam is ringed thin which is going to be disappeared until the end.

Bottle courtesy of a friend. Poured a clear straw colour with a frothy white head a few bubbles. The aroma is yeast light sweet malt. The flavour is medium sweet light bitter with a yeast resin alcoholic bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A familiar and standard Belgian Tripel.

Successor of the old Brugse Tripel by Gouden Boom, in which Palm uses its own yeast and changed the first part of the name because the word ’Brugge’ looks more familiar to foreign tourists than ’Brugse’ (which simply means ’from Brugues’, obviously). Deeply golden blonde (’old gold’) with thick off-white head; aroma of apple, water melon, hay, pepper, lemon zest, thyme, coriander, bitter honey, white grapes, bread, aniseed; fruity, yeasty and caramelly malty taste with lots of explicit spiciness, drying towards the finish, where except from herbal hoppiness some warming, but not acerb alcohol also manifests itself. Perhaps a bit too straightforward, like most of Palm’s ales nowadays. I have also tasted this under its new alias Brugge Tripel Gruut and frankly, I am not convinced at all that this is really an alias: this version did seem more spicy, coriander and aniseed were clearly more emphatically present and the alcohol content of 8.7% ABV is higher than the old 8.2% ABV of the ’ordinary’ Brugge Tripel... Something to investigate!

Ik drink graag tripel, maar dan moet er smaak aan zitten en dat was bij deze niet echt het geval.

I love herbs. This herby (gruut) tripel is exactly the way I like it. Not to herbal as a Jopen Koyt, itś still a tripel with a fine gruut touch. bitter/sweet nice in the middle. Perfect, fine yeah, Brugge is beautiful by the way :-)
