Brugge Tripel is the unsurpassed city beer of the people of Bruges. This beer has a well-rounded malt character, an aromatic hop character and a great complexity of flavours. The taste truly evoques the very best of Bruges!

33cl bottle at home. Clear golden with a medium white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sweet. Citrus, peach, grass and herbs. A decent but not too special triple.

750ml brown corked and caked bottle, with a transparent label with golden letters, poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is hazy golden with a large frothy airy head that settled quickly, leaving a little lacing behind. Aroma of lemon peels, pears, banana and corn. Flavours of lemon peels, pears, herbs, banana, corn, wheat bread and a hint of alcohol. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is light-medium bodied, soft texture and lively carbonation. An undistinguished beer for the style, undesired sweet corn like flavour, too much carbonation and the alcohol is noticeable.

Aroma of malts, yeast, fruits, hops. Flavour is medium fruity sweetness with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Rather typical Tripel, decent but not a great example of the style.

Bottle 33cl. Sweet grainy nose, bread, grass, citrus, dough, banana, light bubblegum; slightly hazy golden color, nice frothy white head, reduces to thin layer that stays; medium sweet taste, yeasty, citrus zest; full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation; medium bittersweet finish, spicy notes; strong but but alcohol is well hidden, good example (no-nonsense) of the style

Bottle, quite graciously brought back for me by my buddy Marv. Pour is very active gold colour with tons of carb and fluffy white head, some small lace spots. Nose is sweet grain, a little Belgian like, there is a hint of corn. Taste is crisp, sweet grain, bitter, but there is something a little off putting too.

Hoppy, fruity, smooth beer. Great with a meal, over an hour or so. Quite strong but not noticeably so.

330 ml bottle bought at Belgian Beer International in Tsuen Wan.

Cloudy hazy golden honey orange colour with small amounts of yeast sediments; Two finger head and crumpety white foam which lasts for 3 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with very fizzy carbonation; Fragrant sweet aroma of malt, with banana, light vanilla, thick bread, caramel, light bubblegum, sugar, lemon and very light grass; Medium sweet taste of malt, with sharp citrus zest, orange peels, alcohol, strong molasses, dull phenolic, hint of wet paper, bread, strong yeast, earth, strong spices, herbs, lime, liquorices, and very grassy hops; Full body, slick and thickpalate; Mouth feel is typical, by-the-book Tripel - full body, highly carbo, strong citrus, subdued sweetness and strong hoppiness - but has a very notable dull phenolic taste permeate throughout. Kinda darken my mood and make me feel low during the session. Other than that it’s also very yeasty, gruity and earthy to counter that dark mood; The 8.7% booze is only slightly noticeable, no knock-on at all, that’s good… Hoppiness / gruitiness is light lemon and grass nose, strong citrus zest, earthy, spicey herbal taste. Moderate liquorices for a lasting mid to light astringent finish; Fairly dry after taste. Sweet, slightly boozy and quite hoppy to mouth.

Comments: As a Tripel, this one has some good attributes like strong fruity zestiness, right booze, and pretty decent herbal hops and gruits. On the other hand, it taste dull, a bit chemical, and pretty narrow taste profiles. Many good Tripels give you that bright and sunny palate, and this one, kinda like watching a film noir without feeling nostalgic. It bugs me for the rest of the night. Not a bad brew, but be prepare to feel down in the dumps when you try it.

Der Antrunk ist süßlich-scharf, sehr limonadig-alkoholisch. Ich finde es zu süß-klebrig, ich meine auch, ein paar Kräuter zu schmecken.
--> Viel zu alkoholisch-scharf. Nicht so meins!
