3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Heavy carbonation. Large pssht when I crack open the cap, and the beer booms into a big foam when it hits the glass. Head is slow to die and easily revived with a light swirl. There’s not a lot of flavor going on, but in the back there is a bit of toasted almost-hazlenut. This really isn’t a bad beer.

33cl bottle from Vinbu?in, Borganes. Pours dark caramel coloured with an off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel, notes of bread and just a hint of herbs. Fairly sweet with caramel flavour and a light bitterness. A bit light and watery, but fair enough.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUL 18, 2012 The second beer from the first microbrewery in Iceland, this time a czech dunkel. The ingridients list is the same is in the pilsner version; Saaz hops, imported malt from the Czech Republic, water and yeast. Anyway ... Pours a dark red colour, very firm but thin head. Whole lot of lacing! More aromatic than the traditional Kaldi, small hints of hops, grass and malt. Taste is a bit dry, hints of dried fruits, malt, those distinguished saaz hops, small hints of nuts and biscuits. Very pleasant and smooth palate, nicely balanced carbonation. .

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 8, 2013 draft at 73 Restaurant and Cafe This was called Kaldi dark by Johanna the bartender. The beer poured a deep dark amber but not opaque with a nice beige head. This is a very balanced beer with a sweet aroma of caramel malts and so is the flavor. The beer also had an acidic side almost like cider mash. The carbonation was average for the medium body beer. The finish was sweet but smooth. No bitterness in the aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured this beer from a bottle into a pint glass to drink. It had a dark, clear amber-brown color with a good-sized creamy tan head that had good retention and slight cling. The beer had a malty aroma with scents of caramel and coffee, and a bit of grainy hops. The taste was fairly sweet with a good coffee taste with touches of chocolate and caramel and a very slight bitterness. It had a fairly creamy, smooth body with light carbonation and a low amount of carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours brown, red under light, with a two finger off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is muted, some caramel, sweetness, bread. Sweet flavor, caramel malts, some dark fruit, light bitterness, bread. Semi-dry, refreshing finish. Definitely sweet, though. Medium carbonation. Didn’t know what to expect with this one and was pleasantly surprised.
