4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 joet (1875) - Fulton, California, USA - AUG 13, 2001
UPDATED: JUL 25, 2003 This is Blanche de Bruges to me though I've seen this blue label too. Always amazing, this hazy, lemony, wheat will also offer hints of frankincense, honey and apple. Luscious mouthfeel.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Indra (2361) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JUL 9, 2001
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2004 Somewhat faint but pleasant aroma, softly citric, sweet, spicy and fruity with notes of lemon, orange, banana, clove and wheat malt. Ghostly pale yellow color, uniformly hazy, with a diminishing, fine head. Flavor is wonderfully tart and spicy, the citric lemon and yeast notes readily apparent, turning faintly acidic, sweet, honeyish and lightly bitter towards the end. Certainly light in body, the palate is properly and refreshingly carbonated in accordance with the style. Highly drinkable and tasty wit.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Aubrey (3192) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - MAR 26, 2001
Creamy, bleached-white head and cloudy, creamy-yellow color was eye candy. Cover of the book was a little better than the book though. Although it was rich, refreshing and clean, it was a little too light-tasting. Yearned for a more yeasty flavor/aroma. Enjoyed the faint apple aroma though - however difficult to discern.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sammys (428) - Portland, Maine, USA - MAR 9, 2001
Referred to as ’Blanche de Bruges’ on my bottle. I think mine was rather old...Anyway, when poured this looked a lot like Scaldis/Bush, with floating sediment (clumps of yeast?) in addition to the typical bottle conditioned cloudiness. Aroma was spicier than a typical wit, appearence a just a bit darker. Flavor was dissapointing. The spice was there, but it seemed watered down. Aftertaste didn’t suffer as a consequence, but this was definitely too watery for the style. For half the price, go for Allagash White.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 10, 2000
I love witbiers and this is my favourite. Great malt flavours balance off the spices perfectly. A fresh Blanche de Bruges is a wonder to behold.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 beergirl99 (101) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 1, 2000
This was quite tasteless. The only taste was a slight aftertaste. It even looked like it was not going to have any great taste.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 young (45) - Georgia, USA - OCT 1, 2000
Did not enjoy this beer. It seemed almost tasteless and like nothing but wheat. No hops to balance at all it seemed. Thin. Watery. Avoid.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bov (7354) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUN 14, 2000
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2003 cloudy yellow-orange colour, fine head, deep spicy aroma (coriander, cloves?), haye and lemon, medium-bodied, dry and light acidic finish - a sure value
