2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark amber pour with an off-white head. Metallic, roasted malt, and a bit of toast on the nose. Some hints of chocolate, light fruit, and some cola. The flavor is incredibly metallic. Plenty of roasted malt, a bit of chocolate, and a fairly sweet toffee maltiness. Some hints of dark fruit, a bit of cola, and a light sourness. Really not very good.

from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier - cloudy brown beer under a persistent and creamy beige foam; yeasty and slightly estery; notes of marzipan, some sweetenss and pretty tasteless; medium-bodied; no bitterness, more yeasty notes and hints of berries - not terrible

May 2010: Brown 33cl bottle, poured into a fluted 30cl ’Paderborner Goldpilsner’ glass. I don’t have a Zot glass, the substitute is the closest in design I have.
A dark tanned head sat on top of deep reddish brown body. A retension of the head rarely seen on Bock beers, was very impressive.
Sweet caramel and molassas hit your nose, then as the beer warms the smell turns more malty and beery.
Malt dominates the taste, sweet maltloaf without it sticking to your teeth, fairly thin bodied for a Bock, but certainly not watery.
A beer produced for Brugge tourists more than Belgian beer lovers, this wouldn’t win any awards but is OK if you haven’t had a Bock before.
