COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a deep reddish brown with haze. Small head lasted about 20 seconds. Serious aroma with powerful strong dark fruits, sweet candy sugars, thick molasses malts, spices, and belgian style yeasts. The taste was a blend of the aromas with the dark fruits, dark sweet candies, spices, Belgian yeasts and the malts all coming together. Not overly sweet or cloying. Thick, oily mouth is smooth and good. Finish is bold flavors. Very well done.

Dark brown colour; beige foam, abundant, dense and creamy. Smell of biscuit. Taste of fudge, chocolate. A powerful taste, a beautiful balance. Tasted with cheese and meat terrines but definitively stands up on its on.

Bottle, 75cL. Home. A dark brown beer with mahogany hues at the bottom of my glass. Huge creamy beige head ; good retention. Fruity aroma (grape, prune), alcohol, caramel, ashes, smoke, spice, licorice. Medium sugary and warming sweet with light lasting bitter in the background. Full body, silky texture, average carbonation, sweet finish witha bitter note. Overall, delicious begian beer : fruity, spicy, bittersweet with a real depth...
