Softer and rounder in the flavors than other FSAs - delicious and a session beer through and through. Deep earthy cherry skin and rotting leaves aroma, light. Acidic and cherry flavors in the mouth, highly carboated, earthy - sweeter than others, with a distinct maple sugar component. Very nice and a great starter from the big Rastacoure pack received today!

Originally rated March 2006. Bought at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Written JUL2007 on golden bottle cap. Pours a dark ruby-red colour with a big fat creamy tanned head. Long retention, chunky lacing and heavy carbonation. The aromas are of roasted malts, caramel, dark fruit and some nuts. Slight tarty mouthfeel. The taste is quite light, with some nuts, mild bitterness and very light cherries and other dark fruits in the aftertaste. No sourness found here, feels more like a dubbel than a flemish sour. Maybe they changed the recipe, who knows. Still a well-brewed beer.

Une odeur de cognac. Une belle couleur rouge cuivrée. On retrouve en début un goût de cognac qui tapisse la bouche d’un doux velours. Un léger goût de caramel termine le tout. Une belle robe est présente tout au long de la dégustation.

Bottle courtesy of Viper666. Pours a very pretty dark ruby-mahogany with a huge lasting foamy beige head. Aroma’s fruity with caramel malt, yeast, brown sugar and spices. Flavour has lots of caramel malt and dark fruit along with brown sugar and spices -- sweet and caramelly. Medium bodied. I honestly never thought of this as a ’Flemish Sour’ but I still found it pretty good.

Pours a dark brown with a beige foamy head. Rich sour aroma. Earthy flavor, with some aspects that make me think of cheese, licorice, and caramel. Considering this 330ml bottle cost me $18 (another story), and it’s my 300th rating, I’m pleased to find this isn’t another macro swill.

Bottle (330ml). In my Straffe Hendrik goblet. Poured deep burgundy, almost opaque, average creamy beige head. Lovely brown sugar and spice malt aroma, a hint of red wine sourness and yeast, not much sourness really. Taste - again, malt, spice, hint of fresh tart black cherries in the finish. Decent body, syrupy, nicely carbonated, quick finish, not too sweet - very good beer, but just not all that sour - just tart cherries.

(341 ml bottle). Beautiful aroma, flavour and body but I have difficulty in selecting the exact nature of each ingredients. ( fairly new to craft beers and RB ) I shall come back at a later date to rate this beer in a more specific way. One thing for sure I enjoyed this beer tremendously. Can hardly wait for another one.

bottle. pours a deep red-mahogany body with a large, yeasty, off-white head. aroma is cheesy, with vague cherry notes, and bread. body is rich malt and not as aggressive as other Flemish Sour Ales that I’ve had, that’s not to say that there isn’t a fair amount of fruit acidity in this though. smooth and yeasty with a fair complexity. pretty good.

[bottle at Grande Gueule] Clear, brownish red with lots of clots of brownish sediment and a thin ring of white foam. Sweet black cherry and raspberry malt aroma with a touch of spiciness and perhaps some wood. The flavour is a gentle black cherry and raspberry with a little sweet malt and just a little sourness. I would have liked the flavour a lot more if the sweetness was balanced with some more bittering or sourness. Notes of red wine. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation and a smooth, clean finish. Very good.

Amber color with a smallish head. Gigantic clumps of yeast was the only distraction in drinking this, looking like bird droppings. Taste was a nice balance of tart cherries and some masky earthiness. This is a very good beer.

Reddish mahogany color, with a light foamy head, the nose is one of welcoming of cherry anf raspberry getting married in front of a berryfield of aromas. The palate is sweet and sour, where the cherry intermingles with some fruits and sourish notes in a roundness. Finishes with a hint of maltiness.
