Cloudy brown with a weak soapy looking head. Wide variety of flavors and smells. Slight burn going down due to the high alcohol content. Spicy undertones, well balanced without too much hop or malt dominating with just a touch of sweetness. Very nice all around!

Great dark amber colour. Huge head that last. The aroma is spicy with notes of caramel. Spicy flavour that covers the alcahol nicely. It’s a smoothe and not too complex belgian strong ale. Was a great accompaniment to a olive paté.

This bottled brew marked BBF 09/07/02 poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized mostly lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was very hazy with a lot of yeast chunks and brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of vinous malts and dough. Its mouth feel is tingly mildly vinous with a port like smooth vinous aftertaste. Its flavor contained raisin plum port like vinuous malty dark beer brown malts notes and was very tasty. An excellent beer that I would buy again.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2003 Bottle. Slightly darker in colour than most tripel-style beers, more a light amber colour. The taste is the other surprise. Not dry and hoppy like most abbey tripels but leaning toward the sweet. My tip for enjoying this beer: After pouring the beer slowly into the glass, add some of the yeast deposit to the beer. Your tastebuds will thank you.

Very good tripel. Easy to drink, sweet fruity taste. Hazy amber colour with beige head.

I really liked this beer. It starts and finishes with a mild sourness but manages to get malty with sweet tropical fruit in the middle. Although lighter in body than many tripels I find this a refreshing change. A refreshing beer at 9%! The aroma lacks some of the typical tripel characteristics but is still present and pleasant.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2004 cloudy amber-orange colour with a giant creamy head and a nice lace, strong honeyish aroma with notes of gingerbread and spices, creamy and sweet, full-bodied, robust bitterness, the finish is dry, long and honeyish - clean and balanced with a good character - this is one of my old favourites

Bottle conditioned. Gold-bronze with a fluffy white head and good condition. Sweet aromas of hazelnut, malt and licorice. More licorice in the mouth with caramel and a corky note (not a corked bottle though). Finish was short, slightly dry and bitter. One of the few tripels I would want to drink more often.

Very big head. Nice complex slightly fruity aroma. Malt and hops balance nicely with the alcohol.

A nice light malty aroma with hint of spice. Full malty flavor mixes well with the hops.
