COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered. Keg.
Brugse Zot Dubbel is a dark brown beer, inclining towards ruby red. It is brewed with six special varieties of malt, which give the beer a rich and distrinctive aroma. One can discover the scent of honey, almonds, chocolate and brown sugar. By using the Czech Saaz hop from Zatec, the beer has a complex palate of roasted malts and a distrinctive flavour. Brugse Zot Dubbel is known to leave a warm glow in the mouth with a bitter and hoppy finish, leaning towards liquorice and coffee roast. Bottle conditioned.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, sugar, Saaz hops, yeast.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Dark ruby with a slight haze, big beige head. Dark malts aroma with notes of bread and dough, hints of wine and nail polish. The taste has dark toasted bread, a touch of caramel and a spicy herbal hoppy finish. The body is light to medium with a massaging carbonation. Not bad.

Nutty, slightly ester/herby dubbel; no thick velvety thickness, but does have a sort of creamy body and a creamy smell (Jacob’s cream crackers; almonds; ovaltine malt-y drink); middle is brown sugar-y. More like a yeast bun than chocolate fudgecake (which is no bad thing),

330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Looks:Translucent deep ruby red colour with slight traces of dirt- like yeastsediments; Two and a half finger head and crumpety light beige foam which lasts for 4 minutes; Excellent and beautiful sticky lacing with active carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet dark malt, with banana, vanilla, strong honey, nuts, strong caramel, brown sugar, bubblegum, strong Bel yeast, light lemon and thin grassy hops.

Taste: Medium sweet Amber malt, with metallic, strong caramel, toffee, very light dark fruits, brown sugar, light liquorices, Cola, strong Bel yeast, light lemon, moderate bitter hops and grass.

Body: Close to full body; Slick and creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Fairly good Amber maltyness in a rich, smooth background. Lots of caramel and toffee light up the taste. Strong brown sugar but sweetness is moderate, and well balanced by hops and light liquorices. Yeasty with light lemon to round. Simple but very nice!

Hoppiness: Light lemon and thin grassy hops in nose, and a lot stronger in taste. Bitterness is low at first, than dash towards a abrupt, mid astringent sweet malty finish.

After Taste: Slightly dry. Creamy and nice sweet bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is my kind of Dubbel - clean looks, beautiful head, rich smooth body, simple but nice caramel and estery aroma, and well-expressed brown sugar blended seamlessly with fair hoppiness. Not extraordinary, but well-made in just about every aspect. Highly recommended!
