3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This was one of my favorite beers for a long time. Then i started tasting more beers and this one fell down in score a few steps. Still it’s a very nice dark beer. Caramel and nuts in taste.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from tap at the brewhouse. Inviting, stable filmy layer over a deep, dark brown body. Dark malty aroma with hints of dark fruits. Raisin and prunes together with sweet, dark malts in flavour. Hints of anise. Bittersweet ending. Liked it, especially since it was the first beer before noon on a Monday in Brugge, 02.05.2011.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
This is one that I really looked forward too, to give it a try. Too bad, it wasn’t what I expected it to be. Aroma was yeasty and alcoholic, returns in the taste. But the taste also had some spicey side taste with hints of clove and plums. This beer is certainly not bad at all, but just not quite what I expected from De Halve Maan.

Average dubbel at best. I am still convinced that there is something in the water of Brugge that makes it difficult to make an enjoyable beer.

Served in a chalice, pours brown colored with a foggy ody. Dense foam with medium bubbles, very good retention. Your nose will perceive toasted malts 6 yeast profile, hops not shown. Taste is sweety with spicy notes of dark fruis. Alcohol is present in a medium-heavy body & could be felt overall. An standard but not less good Belgish Bruin.Nice drinkability sip by sip.

Bottle - 330ml. Dark brown body with a thick beige foamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with grassy hints. Taste carries woody and yeasty notes. Ends with a decent bittersweet finish. Enjoyable.

not bad dubbel, a little light in almost every category including abv. not that every belgian ale needs to be in double digits abv or anything, but this is a little light. caramel color and flavor, tastes good but nothing too interesting here.
