2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 reakt (948) - Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2007 Draught at The Beer Weekend, Brussels. Reddish brown with an off white head that left a nice lacing, about the only thing nice about it. Smell of banana and a taste like banana nut bread. Watery and thin, a disappointment from my once favorite brewery. Should have held on to Straffe Hendrik.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Glouglouburp (5545) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 10, 2006
Draft at brewery. Clear redish-brown body, medium off-white head with great lacing. Aroma of fudge caramel. Very malty, caramel, sugary, not very pleasant sweet/bitter finish. Tastes like a bad Straffe Hendrik Brune. More boring than bad. Looks nice like the touristy part of Brugge where it is brewed. But really it is as boring as the rest of Brugge.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 toccata (70) - grembergen, BELGIUM - SEP 12, 2006
At ’t Brugs Beertje, Brown beer with light tann foam. Nose is soft, malty and has a slight hoppy caracter. Taste is well ballanced and there are touches of nuts, chocolate and sugar bread. In the finale you can notice a fine hop selection.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrRomero (1966) - Nolanville, Texas, USA - SEP 3, 2006
Draft at Belgian Beer Weekend, Brussels: poured a deep amber with a thick tan head. Mild chocolate aroma with a touch of dark fruit. Flavor is light cocoa, raisins and figs. Almost quad like to me. Full rich flavor with a moderate alcohol bite.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - AUG 25, 2006
Draught @ the Half Moon Brewery, Brugges, Belgium.
Sadly not as good as the Brugges Zotter. I expected the darker opposite of the summery, fresh and spicy blonde, but it didn’t eventuate. This is not to say this was a bad drop though. Poured a clear, tawny brown with a flimsy, bubbly tan head that barely held out and left minor lacing. Crushed, roasted nuts, cocoa powder and toffee make up the aroma. Body is light, but gives off the illusion of firmness and has a nice smooth feel to it. Sweet malts, biscuity and caramel flavours make the palate. Touch of wood and bitter malt in back before a drier malt and nut finish that shows a little spice. Has a little chocolate hidden away that peaks out as it warms but it is otherwise simple and sessionable. Still a nice ale, none-the-less. A Belgian Mild ale, perhaps.
