Draught at the brewpub De Halve Maan, Bruges. Dark ruby colour, with pale brown head. Ashes, metal and caramel aroma. Caramelly malty in flavour, slight toasty with a bit of chocolate, the latter lingers. Long flavour here. The Belgian yeast phenols makes it well feel like a stronger Dunkelweizen, with a touch of compost, and earthiness from the yeast and the dark malts. Solid beer!

Draught at the brewery. Hazy deep reddish brown, meduim beige head. Slightly roasted aroma with toffee notes and some ash tray aromas. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Well balanced with a dry finish.

Bottle. A lively beer, trying to sneak out of the bottle. It pours an unclear dark amber body with floaties and good carbonation. A big, lasting beige head sits on top. Dried fruits and dark candi-sugar dominates the aroma. There’s a little yeasty touch and some blackcurrant as well. The flavor is sweet and fruity, with some alcohol, a little bitterness, a hint of dark berries, some yeasty notes and a hint of spices. Full-bodied, effervescent and warming. It dries up quite a lot in the finish, where the alcohol plays a major part, and a fine bitterness lingers. Overall, it’s too effervescent and sweet, but I really like the way it gets quite dry in the finish. Sure won’t shy away from drinking more of this. 100227

At an gall & gall in the westerwatering, Zaandam, brown, full fluffy head, sweet and soapy are the first hinds, lots of red fruits and roasting grain, some strange notes.

Was a bit disappointing. Had this one at De Zuid @ KNSM eiland in Amsterdam. On bottle. Head died rather quickly, body was a bit weak. All in all not the best dubbel I have had.

At the brewpub in Brugges. Came to my table a light brown with an off white head. The aroma was fruity and yeasty. It was sweet and a little watery. Not bad, but I’ve had better.
