17/10/2010 - 33cl bottle @ home

Pours a clear copper red to reddish brown beer. Airy beige head, little adhesive. Aroma holds caramel, alcohol, malts and a slight hint of yeast. MF is ok with nice carbon, medium body. Taste has roasted malts, caramel, a little sweet touch from the alcohol maybe, but not too much. Aftertaste holds more roasted malts and hops. A little tart (the bad sour).

Had at De Halve Maan in Brugge. Not a bad dubel but like it’s the other Zot not a super great example. Lacks a certain something. Serving: Tap

jmm635 (887) - Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 21, 2010
Poured medium to dark brown brown with a khaki head. Malty base on the nose with some caramel and soggy grains. Flavor was lightly sweet with a heavy malt character. Palate was more dry and bitter than I was expecting. Could have been sweeter in my opinion. Fairly average dubbel.

Location: 12 oz bottle brought back to NJ from the brewery, 9/16/10

Aroma: The nose has some sweet malts, caramel, dark fruits, roasted notes, spice, and toffee
Appearance: It pours a reddish-brown color with a creamy, lasting beige head that leaves lots of lace
Flavor: The taste is relatively sweet and malty with the flavors of caramel, toffee, spice, and fruits
Palate: It has a medium-full body, it drinks pretty nicely, and drys up as it reaches the finish
Overall Impression: One of the beers that made its way home with me from Belgium, this is some pretty solid stuff. A nicely made and enjoyable Dubbel with a pretty cool looking logo. I’d drink this one again.

Bottle 33cl. A brown ale with small head that remains properly. Smell is very nice on roasted notes and spices such as cloves and anise. Aroma is on brown malt, sugar and yeast that gives a small sourness, quite creamy, small acidity but properly encapsulated in a nice body with a coffee finish. Notes of dry grapes, plums, alcohol us properly hidden, aftertaste is medium to long with a dry roasted finish. Good beer, a quite complex dubbel.

Bottle @ home. Deep brown pour, reddish glow, large dense light brown head. Huge caramel aroma with malt, fruits, spices and yeast. Hint of molasses. Flavour is mildly bitter, lightly sweet with lot’s of spices. Caramel, malts and fruits dominate the sweetness, molasses and spices the bitterness. Not bad but a bit weird.

Bottle. Brown with a big head that took time to dissipate. Medium body and slightly spicy. Quite bland and not as good as I had anticipated but stil worth trying.
