3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice deep brown in color with nice beige head on top. Aroma is slight sweet, malty, nutty with some roasted edges. Taste is smooth, nutty with some dry caramel notes and some well integrated hops. afthertaste is well in balans and in the finale the dry caramel notes are lingering on. like this on better than the blond version.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Halve Maan brewery in Bruges. Dark brown with beige, lasting head. Aroma is faint but malty. The flavor of dark malts carries some bitterness, but overall this is a thin beer and somewhat watery. Perhaps something brewed for the tourist masses.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
(Bottled) Hazy red-brown color with a medium, bubbly-foamy head. Slightly acidic aroma of sweetish, caramely and roasty malt, and hints of yeast. Quite acidic flavor with alcohol pretty evident. Oh, yeah - some neutral-sweetish, roasty-caramely malt, too. Light to medium-bodied, fizzy-foamy-carbonated palate. It’s funny, that in the (touristy, but fun) brewery tour, the visitors are assured, that top fermentation is the key to making tasty beer. However, this brew is a good example of how to make a top-fermented beer taste as much like a dull bottom-fermented one as possible! No wonder they only served the more bearable blond version after the tour...
