Brugse Zot Dubbel is a dark brown beer, inclining towards ruby red. It is brewed with six special varieties of malt, which give the beer a rich and distrinctive aroma. One can discover the scent of honey, almonds, chocolate and brown sugar. By using the Czech Saaz hop from Zatec, the beer has a complex palate of roasted malts and a distrinctive flavour. Brugse Zot Dubbel is known to leave a warm glow in the mouth with a bitter and hoppy finish, leaning towards liquorice and coffee roast. Bottle conditioned.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, sugar, Saaz hops, yeast.

Draught at Café Linssen, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Dark brown colour with small to average size light tan head. Malt, dark fruits, some sweetness and some sourness in aroma. Strong maltiness, sourness and some metal in flavour. Not very solid brew.

Btl at The Occidental Belgian Beer Cafe. Clear red-brown pour with a creamy, off-white head leaving light lace. Medium-light body with champagne-like carbonation. Apricots, candy, toast, cherries, not too much ethanol. Lingering, malty sweetness. Pretty average dubbel, bettered by Chimay Rouge.

Bottle. Mighty fizzy so whilst the froth settled down in my glass I took a few swigs from the bottle (classy). Smells of musty alcoholic mould and carbon dioxide mixed with drying paint. Quite malty with a soft mouth feel and hints of dark cherry and cheese cake. Quite zingy on the tongue which will be the high alcohol I guess. Dark brown in colour and slightly opaque. An easy drinking skull splitter.

Deep brown with a coarse tan head that quickly vanished leaving a placid smooth surface. Aroma is of caramelized banana, not over-ripe. Body is very light and smooth, especially for the style. Flavor is moderate banana, very light caramel, and a light-to-moderate toasted/roasty finish. the flavor profile is a bit light for the style, but its forgivable because of the unique characteristics of this beer- its dark, light bodied, even slightly roasty.

33cl bottle. Poured dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, yeast and some spicy notes, cinnamon comes to mind. Flavor is malt, dark fruits and hint of metal. Finish is warming, with some spicy notes. Quite enjoyable.

Draught at TND: Aroma of Belgian yeast, dark ripe fruit, nuts, slight berry, and slight molasses. Poured deep amber in color with a medium-sized, rocky, creamy, tan head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, Belgian yeast, light berry, light dark ripe fruit, plum, slight burnt caramel, nuts, and light cherries. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, Belgian yeast, light cherry, light dark ripe fruit, plum, light burnt caramel finish is dry. 7.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

On tap at De Halve Maan. Dark brown colour with a nice lasting head. Aroma and taste of dark fruits, sugar and raisin. Good beer.

Reddish brown with huge lively beige head. Aroma is nutty, with notes of burned sugar and dried fruits. Taste is nicely balanced between sweet caramel-malts and fruity hops (grapefruit, peaches). Mouthfeel is warm, carbonation is quite lively, body is medium and finish is dry, long and medium bitter. A very refreshing take on a dubbel!

Nice brown color, could have been a little darker. Normal smell and good taste. Palate very good. ABV prefect for this beer.
