| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 13, 2009 Draft at De Halve Maan after the brewery tour. Pours a cloudy copper brown hue with a foamy, spongy tan head. Wet, spotty lacing dots the glass. The aroma comes across slightly boozy, showing a brown sugar malt base, with hints of dark raisin, clove, and nutmeg. Flavors follow suit, again big on brown sugar and mild dark fruits, spiced somewhat aggressively with candied orange peel and earthy, woody clove. There’s a hint of nuttiness in there as well. The spice element is intensified by lively carbonation, which gives a sharp edge to the moderate palate. Finishes semi-dry with a distinctly Belgian yeast profile. Solid brew.
